That sounds good to me - maybe as an extension of that, where possible, either people could bring an experimental+a non experimental list on the Sunday or half could bring each

I'd prefer the latter, so that the performance of experimental lists could be tracked across an entire tournament's gaming.

Winter Warmer had mostly standard lists, with only a few (5 I think) experimental, and I'd expect the same for any such events. Just because experimental are allowed doesn't mean nothing but experimental will turn up.

I had to pull out of this event at the last minute last year, hopefully it won't be the same this year.

Well there is an alternative as this is taking place over the Bank holiday - would there be any takers for a third day? And if so, what format??

All being well I'll be able to make the trip up this year, most likely for a single day though.

Willing to get stuck into experimental armies and/or scenarios - I'll go with whatever Ginger decides.  :agree:

Mebbe add a poll to the thread to gauge everyones opinion for the 'day two' format?

Cheers

Reedar

I put MoK up for the night last year and we would be delighted to do so again if he's thinking of coming.

I've got a sofa... it's 50 mins away on the tube, but it's better than nothing :D

I put MoK up for the night last year and we would be delighted to do so again if he's thinking of coming.

Ryan's attendance would be unlikely considering he's spending the next 6+ months in Australia (lucky sod!).

I'd probably be interested in staying over if anyone has a spare room or sofa they'd be willing to let me sleep on for the night or two, would save paying London accommodation prices and I'm sure there'd be a pint or two as thanks.

Count me in!

I'd rather it was a plain vanilla tournament as opposed to experimental lists, at least for Day 1. Us poor southerners are deprived of epic tourneys, so when we do get one it would be nice if it was a "proper" one.

Also, I'm sure there are plenty of people like myself who have no idea what's in the experimental lists and don't enjoy facing off against a complete unknown. A lot of the strategy in epic revolves around being able to identify and capitalise on the weaknesses of the opposing army.

Nick: I don't think anybody wants EpicUK's day 1 to be sullied by the presence of non-EpicUK lists.

OK, I have been checking back on the comments, and as you might expect we have all possible permutations requested. I have been thinking about the possibilities, and have some suggestions:-

Saturday
Most people are expressing the desire for a 'standard' tournament day. A few would like to use experimental armies for various reasons. Rug put forward a thought that we might possibly do both:-
  • The majority (say 14) play standard lists
  • A few (say 6) play separately with experimental lists (which would not count towards the UK Championship)
Though possible, I am a little reluctant to do this unless there is sufficient demand.

Sunday
Virtually everyone would be happy to play with 'experimental' lists, and a few would prefer to keep to the standard tourney scenario. In Bristol we played a separate scenario for each round, using tournament scoring to determine opponents. This seemed to work reasonably well and I propose to adopt the same approach. Again, we could split into two groups if there are sufficient numbers who want to play the standard tourney with 'experimental' armies, effectively the 'mini-tournament' suggested by Dptdexys.

Does anyone have any strong preferences on the experimental scenarios?

Monday
I am not hearing the deafening roar of people clamouring to play (unsurprisingly), so it will not be a three day event - unless by popular demand

I'd prefer to have a normal tournament on the sunday using experimental lists and the tournament scenario. It'd be the first time that's been done in the UK as far as I know.
