I'm running a pair in my list & I'm unsure on if I should run them as one formation or two? Obviously two means in activation increase but I feel like they work better in pairs...at least on paper :\

Also Barge of Pleasure...is it worth running only one in a formation or if I'm using them as transport should be two or none?

Cheers

Unfortunately as much as I love the DE I've only got 'on paper' experience with them.

IMHO the Barge of Pleasure is a a two or none option while the Vessel of Pain depends on its purpose. If I wanted them to be a decisive hammer unit id run them in pairs. For activation spam, harassment and support id run them singly.

Best bet is try both and see which you prefer. Then tell me so we both know ;)

I've run them as singles using the EUK list & they worked really well. I'll try them as a pair today & see how they do

I've only played one game so far with my DE so mostly theoryhammer on my part. I used the barges of P in two's. They're perfect assault supporters. I found them very good for going after garrisons. I run the formation up close to the enemy and keep all inf on board. Shoot and then retain-engage with another formation. It worked really well against big inf formations in the game I had (it was against orks with 3 warbands).

VoP's I've only run in singles. Don't think the 4BPs of a pair is worth the loss of activation as it's not the units main weapon.

Paired WEs don't do it for me. One dies and the other breaks. I'd rather have the activations.

Vessels of Pain are definitely fine as loners. Bring them in pairs only if you know you are going up against heavy armor or titans. You can also bring them with Ravagers, which is expensive, but gives the Ravagers something to hide behind.

Barges of Pleasure are great if you need a transport that won't disintegrate when an IG Sentinel glances at it. Perfect for a small Coterie. However, they are wonderful in pairs if you can afford them, as it turns their menial shots from 2BP into a 4BP weapon. Two templates = good.
