Booo. So much rumour and guesswork. If true, I can sort of see why they'd do that if this, but it's a little dull and turns the Tau into a kind of "catch-all" army. New race idea? No idea where to put it? No problem, lets just squeeze them in with the Tau! (Oh, and I dislike the Tau background and look and feel a somewhat)

Who knows, this might tempt a few people back to 40k with promise of squats. Who knows, depending on how they look I might be tempted to buy a few 40k models for the first time in, well, years. Just hope they don't look like manga dwarfs...

More of a current misconception which seems to be that every army in Rogue Trader consisted of 2 squats with toughness 15 force fields and homing autodestructive 50" blast vortex missiles on jetboards...

Given that pretty much the only background we have on the Demiurg shows they have a relationship with the Tau, it's hardly that big a surprise.

Mosc: Extrapolating their background like you have was always going to be a risk if they ever decided to do their own thing with them.

Very true, but with the Dark Eldar we had time to 'influence' design, or at least carve out some popularity of the list before GW did anything different. Because of my lack of focus, we've delayed the project considerably and now the timelines for GW and our home grown efforts are intersecting. It is frustrating.

Personally I'd take this rumour with a pretty big dose of salt, really, and keep on going with Xenos for the moment, at least until something more solid emerges.

I'll be in the same boat if they ever decide to redo the genestealer cults in any way, or if they change the sisters down the line.

Would be cool if it happened but this could easily be someone making it up.

On a purely fluff point, this does give the Tau a more late era Roman army feel, with their big use of foreign auxiliaries and mercenaries. Not really a bad thing, but I'm still a fan of tau only armies.

I wonder is a separate Tau Auxiliaries armylist variant would be possible (or indeed warranted). Could get some of the bigger Kroot beasties in there, as well as the vespid......

Certainly possible, and indeed presumed when the auxillaries were cut out of the main list.

There was a Gue've'sa (?) human auxiliary list back around v3 of the Tau list. I couldn't find it on the boards last time I looked, but surely someone around here still has a copy.

Nope. Not going to happen, and if they did, it would be the same. It already has a strong background if you know where to look for it.
