Hi All

I think it is time I started to move this development to it's rightful home.

With some minis that just arrived, I thought it was prudent to move the whole thread here

***********************************************

I thought I would release some 'sneak peaks' at ideas and thoughts that have come up through development. I am not saying any of these have made it through or not, however it is always good to get this stuff up - even if only for posterity sake.

Regards...

Sentinels of Hashvahat
The ancestors' essence has been trapped in mechanised bipedal 'sentinels' to continue their service to the Chaos Squats. Much akin to a dreadnought with an element of a terminator, it falls inbetween both.

Image

Doombane
The Chaos Squat answer to AA; a mortar system that also acts as an AA system. (The design of this thing has been frustrating, however I think I finally have something done that is not in the picture).

I will post more ideas, musings and history as the project continues. As it stands, it is on Version 0.7 (not yet ready for release)

Cheers...

Here some sketches going on two other units that are designed to go forward for the playtests. They were originally made by Apocolocyntosis while I was looking for ideas much in the same vein as what he produced. He gave his blessing to use the ideas for units for the Chaos Squat Force.

Howlers
A Dog head on humanoid legs. These animals (creations?) are the staple wild/domesticated animals of the Chaos Squats. Although they appear to be slow and bound around on small legs, the mutations have seen them gain a unique ability to teleport small distances. So while a prey may be several meters away, the Howler can run and teleport a few metres at a time to catch it. This ability along with their large fang filled mouths have made them into guard pets as well as pets for sport (much like dog fights). True to their namesake however, these animals have a tendency to release loud howls when on the hunt. Many state it is Daemons, trapped in the small bodies, revelling in a base desire (on the hunt) trying to get out or to their prey to spill blood. The howling is so loud and disturbing that the Imperial forces simply know them as Howlers.

Side Note: I am still determining the move aspect for the Howlers so it is still in project

Damburi
Through further warping influences in the warp, one of the most successful spawnings have been the Damburi. It is also rumoured that they may also be the result of 'Frankenstein-like' experiments carried out by the Chaos Dwarves. They act as a sub class who are loyal to each other and, while quite bloodthirsty, carry a martial code that sees them as a perfect soldier class for the Chaos Squats. They are however resentful of technology, and choose only to use weapons that have them up close and personal, (it is rumoured that the Chaos Squats engineered this in their DNA to prevent any rise from the established sub class).

The Sentinels of Hashvahat have just arrived!

Some modification may be required, yet I am happy with what arrived so far.

I saw this on warseer and was not convinced by the egg-bots, now i see the models im slightly more convinced :) where are they from?

Could the minor teleportation ability of howlers be harnessed by the chaos squats for weapons use/use in larger constructs somehow?

The Sentinels can be found here. Took me ages to find something that I liked and looked to be just what I wanted: http://www.kremlinminiatures.co.uk/scs3.htm

I am not sure whether the Chaos Squats understand how it works themselves :) All part of the development.

Potentially one of the most problematic units for the Chaos Squats will be this one about to be presented now. So let me start with the thoughts that went into this one:

- I wanted the Chaos Squats to have something different within Chaos apart from the whole summoning deal.

- Chaos Squats were supposedly known as the masters of trapping Daemons into Machine hosts (being inanimate objects)

- While I have elements of Daemons and Ancestors trapped in Engines, I thought it would be interesting to have Daemons trapped into the rocks themselves to bring forth the element of a type of Daemonic Rockman (Known as Golems in the list).

- These units are INF (may become LV) and use the rules for Free Planetfall to represent their appearance from the ground rather than Teleport or the less effective Tunneling.

Like I stated, it is probably the most contraversial, but I will be leaving them in there for the initial playtests as I will not be introducing Daemon Summoning for Chaos Squats in the list I produce

Why do I instantly think of Gorignak from Galaxy Quest...!

The Sentinels of Hashvahat look interesting. I'm really looking forward to this list.
Will there be a tunneling machine?

Yes, the Mole is in there as the standard tunneller. More to come as the week progresses :)

In the interests of making sure the list does not become stale with it's ideas, Capt. Drill from Warseer will be contributing to the development.

It will be good to get some new ideas into what I had already.

I will be looking to release the list after The Chaos BL and LatD changes have been reviewed and set for the freeze.

I found this mini in the AT-43 line and thought it was in line with a Chaos Squat War Engine walker.

Of course it could be modeled with some more stuff and given a suitable paint job

What are people's thoughts?

I like it.

I think it fits in character (even more so with a few Chaos icons etc) quite well.

Funnily enough it is called a Kolossus from the AT-43: Red Blok faction

I am thinking of calling it an Avatar of Woe.

Kolossus is good as well, yet fantasy has one as well.

Onyx, I should really send it to you. I am sure it would come back suitably fantastic! :)
