So there's a Daemon Hunters list still brewing, but what love is there for the Adeptus Sororitas?

Is anybody working on a list for them, has there been an attempt, if not can I (we) start one as of now?

Yes, there is. In the pipeline are three lists, one for each Ordo of the Holy Inquisition. I'm just concentrating on Daemonhunters as (a) it has the most interest and (b) it has an actual range of models, both of which are obviously linked. I've not yet made a stand-alone armylist for the witch hunters (it wouldn't take long), but you can see the earlier all-three-ordos-together Inquisitorial Task Force (which includes the entire Witch Hunters list) here: www.geocities.com/lordinquisitor

The big problem for the witch hunters is the opposite of the Daemonhunters (a) lack of people interested and (b) lack of models.

Yeah, my first too 40k interests were Battle Sisters and Dark Eldar, so I'm used to the 'no love from GW' angle.

But as you saw with the Dark Eldar, lack of interest and lack of models won't deter me any.

Not a bad list, btw.

SO, LordI you've the Champion for all the Chaos Cults and the Inquisition?

Thanks. There's definately some stuff that needs changing (I was thinking of making Penitents and Arco-flagellants part of either the Inquisitor's formation, making them an upgrade for other formations.

Neal has the Thousand Sons, and the Inquisition lists are in no way official (not that this means much anymore)

Yeah, 'official' just means 'GW will sell them to you'

One of the fist things I think we need to do is take Imperial Navy off the 'you may only have one of these allies' thing

having to choose among Marines, other Ordos, IG, or AMTL all makes sense as each is a different army, but every branch of the Imperial Warmachine can count on the assistance of the Navy, since there's no way an Inquisition force gets anywhere without bringing a spaceship.

Even if its a private army I bet it has some air support.

Since they all come out of the 1/3rd it shouldn't make them too good, but it will allow pure GK and Sisters forces a bit more leeway to avoid the serious flaws they have on their own.

Like that 'no real guns' stuff ^^

Well, the Inquisition can take their own aircraft (Pegasi, Gun-cutters and in the case of the Deathwatch, Deathshrieks) and their own spacecraft (Rogue Traders, Battleships, Strike Cruisers), none of which comes out of the 1/3 allowance.

The Inquisition are almost unique* as an Imperial institution in that they don't need the Navy to get around.

The restrition is there because the Inquisition forces can make serious use of the aircraft support. With 1/3 of the points on fighters and bombers, add in gun-cutters and thunderhawks and you have a force that can outcompete any other army for air-power. While this is okay up to a point - one of the themes of the list is unparalleled air-insertion capabilities - I want to make sure that you are sacrificing something to do this: namely, titans or conventional forces.

I know it's a fairly major limitation on using aircraft. It's meant to be!

*The Adepti Arbites, Astartes and Mechanicus also have their own transports.

Yeah, but those ships they have with them can carry aircraft of their own so whether you call it Imperial Navy or not, point is the Inquisition can have its airpower with them.

There's no reason to let them have dedicated fighters and bombers outside the 1/3 allowance except maybe, maybe. the Deathwatch but that begs the question of where did these Marines get these planes and how come the other chapters are too stupid to bring their own Initiative 1 air support?

If even the Inquisition seems to be a Master of Air Insertion you should step back and go 'hmmm' since the Space Marines themselves are already filling that role.

I realize that 2 out of 3 Ordos have their own Marines, and its ok for them to come screaming out of the sky, but it should be either expensive or restricted for Stormtroopers to do so, and Sisters just don't Air Assault. They are as conventional as the Inquisition has, when the girls hit the ground they roll over you with fire and rhino very nicely.

Firstly, here's the Ordo Xenos ITF:

I've actually got some fluff for the Deathshrieks in there, so you can judge for yourself. However, there is some (small and tangental) amount of background justification for this, in that the old Tyranid codex had a little story about an Inquisitor debriefing a Space Marine fighter pilot who had just completed an Exterminatus mission. He wasn't specified as Deathwatch, of course (the Deathwatch hadn't even been invented back then), but if the Inquisition has a standing force of Space Marine pilots that virus bomb Tyranids, the Deathwatch sure fit the bill.

Note that you can't have Deathshrieks AND Navy either, to prevent whole armies of fighters.

If even the Inquisition seems to be a Master of Air Insertion you should step back and go 'hmmm' since the Space Marines themselves are already filling that role.

Right... precisely because the sisters don't have aircraft/orbital support, if you want to give them Navy support, it uses up your one ally option. Note that only stormtroopers and Inquisitorial retinues can use aircraft like Pegasi - the sisters MUST be deployed on the ground.
