Post subject:  Epic War! Battle 1: Marines v Eldar 2,000 pts
This battle was the first fought as part of my Epic War! Campaign (TM pending). To find out more about the Campaign, please see this thread;

What units were used for this battle can be found on the pre-campaign force lists in the same thread. To help, the Marine force used was under code S79, the Eldar E2.

The terrain the battle was fought on was hills (F9 on Campaign Map), and with both armies on advance orders, a standard battle of epic was fought with no advantages to either side.

Each army was worth 2,000 points, so again, the battle was fought with equal forces.

Turn 1 Movement:

Some of the most unorthodox moves I've ever carried out... My Marines swarm into the centre of the board and a huge melee ensues! Vipers attack my Assault troops in the building, they in turn are jumped by tactical troops. Devastators get stuck in as well against the Dark Reapers!
On the right flank, a predictable bikes v jetbikes pileup occurs, while my Land Raiders double up on some jetbikes who have ambused my Land Speeders!
Both combats are vicious and deadly... but at the end of the turn everything is even:

Marines: 24 VPs
Eldar: 24 VPs

Turn Two (post-movement):

I'm determined to get a win for the extra Campaign VPs so storm several objectives. The plan seems to work and despite having broken more of my forces than I have of theirs, the game looks to be up for the Eldar. But a desperate attack on the Land Raiders on the left flank bears fruit... None of the Land Raiders guns destroy the jetbikes and steal the objective!
