The sleek hunting form of the Warhound tracks the damaged Revenant and opens fire with it's Turbo Laser. One shot passes harmlessly aside due to the Holofield but the other hammers into the vitals of the Titans Jump Jets and causes them to ignite. The Titan is thrown into the air and lands just in the Wheatfield still with it's back to the Warhound. As it lands the Reactor takes a punishing blow and goes off line. If the Eldar crew can't shut down and repair the reactor then... well, you know what.

Jain Zah, remembering to open the window this time. She lets fly the Silent Death. The Triple Bladed throwing axe (?) slices through and kills (Ha! No Heal save for you Mister) a stand of unengaged Long Fangs. Without pause it strikes the Wolf Priests Rhino and then the Wolf Priest before hitting another Rhino and lastly a Grey Hunter. All make their armour saves or in the case of the Grey Hunter continues on regardless. (That's Heal save 3).

The Vindicators blast a passing Wild Rider into atoms while the Towering Knights try to blast apart the Wolf Guard on the Take and Hold Objective in the village but despite one hit each and failed armour saves neither Wolf Guard gives in to their wounds. (That's Heal save 4 and 5... none left).
The Revenant Titan wipes out the Long Fangs on the hill but can't manage to kill the two exposed Wolf Guard. They didn't even need a Heal save as they made four armour saves. (Fixed saves are awesome when they work).

The Thunderhawk blasts apart two Dire Avengers defending the Eldars Take and Hold Objective on the right. It also manages to down the one exposed Bright Knight too. The Dire Avengers again in another fantastic display of marksmanship pick off a Grey Hunter and two Scout stands while the Wolf Scouts can't find a target.

The only question needing answered in the End Phase was the wounded Revenant Titan. I rolled for it's Reactor Repair and rolled a six. Obviously, with it being so close to so many other Eldar units I was quite apprehensive at the time.

The Eldar having rescued their Objective had achieved their mission and began to withdraw. The Space Wolves being in no position to stop them, let them go. But there would be a reckoning.

Like a fish to water James selected his troops

Indeed! First they're grumbling about how the rules are so complicated and why oh why did you make them play this game, then they're dissing your card selection for them and swapping stuff for things they like the look of! Finally they're sniping you on Ebay, demanding you paint your stuff better and make some better terrain, and asking you if they can keep their 15,000 points of Ultramarines in your loft because they can't be bothered carting it back and forth : D

Great report as always!

Zap - we've not played the rules for Warp Spiders yet either but they did seem a little odd. I'll staple our Eldar player to the floor and outright demand he uses some soon : D Got some substitute rules in mind I might be able to persuade him to play with; same for the Banshee Phoenix Lord.

Maybe the standard marine 6 because they've not yet joined a Great Company and aren't full Space Wolves? : /

The Warlock gazed at her prize. Not exactly what was expected but that is the way with such things she thought. She turned it in her hand before resting it gently in a silk lined wooden box. It's sightless eyes stared back at her and the weight of it's meaning weighed heavy on her sole. Unbidden her fingers traced the intricate and garish design of the Harlequin Mask within the box before she reluctantly closed the lid. So, the Silent One had gone back to his unfathomable deeds but he had left word, it's meaning all to clear to her. War had come to this planet and it would consume all.

Sounds like a great game, thanks for posting.
Personally I find a single bike on a stand a little odd visually but who am I to complain

PS Love the background stuff, it really brings things to life

Thanks Justiniel, almost every game is a fun night with laughs. The story took me a while to think it out but making up stories on the spot is what I do for my Role-playing games. I guess I just can't switch it off.  :)) Glad you liked it.

The single models are more about making things go further. At the time I was more interested in playing... and being able to play just about any unit available. Since then I have gotten used to it I guess. I would like to up the Terminators, Ogryns etc to three per stand but the bikes don't bother me. I find it odd that you require at least three models per stand for tournament games (is that right?) if that's correct then it sounds to me like a marketing ploy... do the tournament organisers even have any connection to GW Specialist Games?
