Don't feel bad for not having a "real" opponent. I'm in the same boat as you, so once I have everything ready I will be playing games alone and taking pictures to share them.

Sometimes you just got to play alone to have some fun.

My fun increases with every battle fought against myselfe.
You can try many tacticas and units while doing so.

Without the community here and in germany there would be no 30K Tau army no Squats no IG tank regiment

To let you in on a little secret. Your battle (and the awesome pictures you posted), are one of the reasons I'm back to enjoying epic again. It reminded me how much fun it can be.

I will do my best.
nevertheless I plan (just) some small battles with a lot of terrain on smaller boards.
I remember some 1-2K battles which I enjoy very much.
Once my friend fu**** me up with a Ultramarine Scout company(SM/TL) era
with 50cm range and CAF+2

I played Eldar and killed everything except the scouts but entering his weapon range was too deadly
so I lost ahhrg.

Another 2K Battle I took a Warlord battlegroup and 2 Warhounds for 2K
it was totally unfair.

I had also a very good 3K Eldar setup:
Scoutitans x2 OR Phantom 600
Jetbike Host 650
War Host 850
FireStorm 150
Dark Reaper 250
Various 100
Exarch 400
Free Scouts
Free Avatar

I smashed with this setup my Orc opponent everytime
and some others too.


Ahh the good old times
Maybe the best and funniest battle we ever fought was:
Me and a friend playing 15K Marines and Imperial forces against:
7K of each Eldar NIDS and Orcs.
a battery of Bombards killed 2 Eldar Titans with 2 shots
after each turn, there was a big, very big hole in the OrcMobs
but the NIDS took ground every turn.
We used the Emperor Titan and he caused heavy casualities on the enemies
the Evil forces closed in more and more
a Nid Hirophant hide next to a big goverment buiding
defendedby all Imperial characters
they scored several hits on the Hirophant and with a lot of 6es i was able to throw 3xD6 wounds for it
Destroying one of those beasts.
In the next turn the remaining Eldar Titans focused their fire on the Emperor´s legs
and managed it to bring this God of War to fall.

Hey Commander Ulric,

What a fantastic battle, and great photos too. The terrain is amazing. I can recognize the buildings from both the 2nd Space Marine game and the Titan Legions box set.

But where did you get the ruined buildings from? I am thinking of the ruined buildings on the border between the grey city area and the green grass. Not the plastic ruins that also came witht he EPIC 40.000 box.
They look like something you might have cut out yourself? Any advice you can pass on for constructing similar ruins?

I have become inspired by this huge battle, and think I have to prepare multiple ruins like yours. Thanks for sharing your battle report.

I agree it is totally inspirational!

I am mobilizing a great deal of things (painting and conversions) to assemble a 200k battle (100k per side).

I'm hoping I can do it next year.

Not just to have enough to put on a game that big, but to have it all painted so well with great terrain... What my childhood dreams were filled with!

I remember a few big games with multiple players on the floor with books under blankets as terrain.
