This Stephen guy is definitely a cool dude. I wouldnt show my face in the "local" store. Its like the only one in this country and not likely they would have a netepic battle.

Doesnt matter though Ive got pretty much all the minis I need at home. Right now Im hoping Ill get the opportunity to be unemployed at least over the summer. That would give me time to realize my crazy project: building an immaculate games table at my country house. And then maybe playing a few games on it...

Anyway cool battle report, keep up the good work.  :agree:

LOL
Great report Mr Warhead Sir, looking forward to the second half, after you've rescued the cat!

The Belfast store wouldn't countenance EA let alone NetEpic  :sigh: although several people there have armies and play privatly.

Well, I thought I would also say hello. Although I only just registered.

I'm Richard the dark angel player and I'm afraid all I have got painted sinse the game is a bit of my 40k lr crusader, stil about a weeks worth of painting to go.

I really enjoyed the first big game of epic I've had in years, and sinse I swapped my imp fists for a load of unpainted marine stuff I better get to painting for the next game.

lets hope its just the start of a lot more. :vD

Hey guys, thanks for dropping by. Good to hear from you both. I hope I have remembered most of the battle accurately...  I will get the second half written and posted in short in the hopes it doesn't crash. The Cat has been retrieved and repositioned on standby for a boot if my next attempt should fail... (kidding, I'm a cat and dog person... so to speak.)

On other news I have been accepted for a new position based in Glasgow... (Those Thursday Specialist Games Nights are looking very tempting right now. Through the day gaming during the week is not looking possible unless I take time off.) It's sort of a promotion due to grade but less money due to giving up my shift allowance and extras for working weekends. However, overtime and Flexitime is available. I really can't say what I'm doing though as all joking aside I would have to kill you. Yes, this time it is a secret.

Oi! It's one of those backward EA lads escaped from the slow side of the forum, bog off you cheeky little poaching bleeder!    :vD

To be honest I've considered an EA tournament or two just to meet up with folk here and see what all the fuss is. I may even be able to generate some local players if there are any from around here at the tournament.

The EA lads are all good guys and we always have some friendly banter... it's just that kind of site.

TURN 2

Chaos wins the Initiative... the dirty rotter.

The Compulsory move saw the Deathstrikes streak into the centre of the table just short of any enemy targets. One diverted towards the right flank. You could tell these missiles were a worry (understandable) but I'm now thinking I should have at least detonated one and hoped it chained close enough to kill some stuff. Ah, well. The Tzeentch Vortex (Adventure Game anyone?) went back to the exact spot it had started on... who can tell the reasoning behind the actions of the Tzeentch creations.

In an aggressively brave move the Knight Errant Troop (They may look like Paladins but there Errants OK!) Charges amidst the Chaos scum in an attempt to retard there advance and to tie up a few detachments. The plan works a little too well as they are instantly swamped by Minotaurs and Tzeentch Flamers. (I had suggested Charge orders so apologies to Richard.)
However, the Leman Russ Company and Stormhammer all wait unmoved, content to carefully pick their targets. The Sentinels pull back behind the Tanks for cover... having already earned 2VP they had done their job. The Warlord strides forward on Advance closing the distance and keeping LOS to all the remaining Chaos Titans.

The Imperial Centre stands firm, the Devastators and Reaver hold fast and prepare to fire. Richards Warhounds rush forward guns training on the Chaos Minions and Marines.

My own The Close Combat Warhound in a Baldric Blackadder plan charges forward and behind the remaining Chaos Warlord Titan. The idea was that it may be able to survive and gain the objective the Warlord was guarding if the Titan had First Fire orders. I also thought that the wrecked Chaos Titan would block LOS to the Warhound from much of the main Chaos Force but as it turned out this was not a rule used by Richard or Steve so it was an assumption on my part. However, the Chaos Warlord turned out to have Advance Orders and just managed to walk backward enough to bring the Warhound back into it's fire arc with some of it's weapons. Bahh!
Stephen used his last Warhound with a screen of Chaos Predators to Advance, keeping all the Imperial Warhounds in LOS. The Chaos Reaver also Advanced (?I think?) forward along with a gathering of Chaos Dreadnoughts and Tzeentch Flamers. The Chaos Land Speeders try to close into range of Richards Advancing Warhounds too.

The Dark Angel Assault Marines attempt to pull back to the Summer Palace but some were pinned and soon became engulfed in attacking beastmen and Daemon Engines. This was bad enough until a the Bloodthurster joined the fray hungry for slaughter.

The Deathwing was rushed by a pack of Hellhounds but they were all gunned down on Snap Fire before they could complete the charge. The next wave was Juggers and although three were killed they would still complete their charge in the close combat phase before succumbing to their injuries. My Plasma Blastgun armed Warhound displaced behind the Deathwing keeping a LOS to the Daemon Engines and the Bloodthurster.

The furthest forward Chaos Minotaurs or Marines couldn't reach the Imperial lines. Units of Marines behind the attack held back on Advance orders to provide support.

The Inquisitor had been hoping the Assault Marines would have been joining him to help protect the objective in the Palace but it was not to be. He sat in the Golden Tub and sulked...

The firing begins with a Cannon of Khorne Battery that takes down two of the Imperial Reaver's shields again. However, one of the battery misfires and explodes in a crackling black storm of warp energy.
Once the Titan Princeps of the Imperial Reaver realises it has become the prime target for the Cannons it immediately opens fire on it's Chaos counterpart striping it of void shields with it's Turbo Lasers. The Volcano Cannon scores a direct hit on the Chaos Titans Bridge killing half it's crew and leaving the Titan Crippled (4+ Damage result. 4+ to receive orders and 1/2 Caf for the rest of the game).
Another Cannon of Khorne Battery opens fire on the Reaver. One shot scatters killing many of the Devastators Rhino APC's and the other strips another shield but unfortunately another misfire claims the third Cannon.

The Imperial Artillery open up on the doomed Chaos Reaver and with one shot from the Bombard Battery the Titans arm weapon is blown off causing a power spike in the Titans Reactor. Containment is lost and a catastrophic reactor explosion engulfs the Titan and four units of Tzeentch Flamers (Yes, they are Horrors, get over it... they are Flamers today, ok.) and three Chaos Dreadnoughts. The Artillery Companies Commissar commends the gun crew for their action.

With very few other First Fire units the Imperials get to lay down a withering hail of shots and Artillery. The Emperors Children Legion breaks under the relentless barrage and the last Chaos Warhound is stripped of it's void shields. The Devastators suppress the Trolls and Monitors while the Stormhammer breaks the Chaos Land Speeders killing four...

However, the close combat phase has just arrived...

The sound of Chain swords and the cries of Beastmen and mutants mix with the roars of the daemon Engines. The Bloodthurster laughs with a booming voice at such carnage while laying waist to a unit of Assault Marines. Immediately Stephen plays a Chaos Reward card TELEKINESIS thus extending the Bloodthursters secondary move to 20cm. In a brilliant move the Bloodthurster unfolds it's giant wings and soars above the melee. It lands with a crash through the roof of the summer palace and like a bug contemptuously squishes the Inquisitor in his bath... Tuh! Isn't it always they way, you just get the water temp and bubbles just right and a Greater Daemon spoils it, bloody typical.

Aaargh!

The Knights Errant are all torn apart as are most of the Assault Marines but they don't go alone.

I would add the Knights drew against the minotaurs in combat and were killed by Flamers of Tzeenct, even when a champion had gone down.....
But worse was to come.
