Video report of my game vs E&C. There isn't any sound or notes, but it is fairly obvious how the game went.

My army list was:

ASSAULT
ASSAULT
BIKE
DEVASTATOR
LANDING CRAFT
PREDATORS (Lascannon variant)
SCOUT
SPACESHIP Strike Cruiser
TERMINATOR, Chaplain
THUNDERHAWK
THUNDERHAWK
THUNDERBOLTS
WARHOUND TITAN

Barring his first 3 activations in turn 2 (where he broke one of my formations with each of his 3 activations), I had him on the back foot the whole game, and managed a 5-0 win.

I set up with a fairly standard split, but was caught by the bombardment. I was thinking of setting up completely away from the Blitz, but was a bit concerned about the Warhound picking a formation off. It did not help that I failed my first activation so effectively faced four Marine activations before I could start to do anything. I also miffed my first activation which should have been putting the remaining Scorpion onto Overwatch.

However I was also not helped by my rolls and E&C also had some great dice as well.

Also checking the influence of changing the double retain dice roll had no effect, turns 1 & 2 were passed on a 6 and I failed the third turn roll on a 2.

As noted when we were chatting post game, I think I still would have done pretty much what I did, just disembarking my Predators so that they couldn't be seen behind the Landing Craft.

I'd happily lose a DC on the lander in exchange for the shot at the Falcon formation on the rear flank.

So, barring a minority result (critical hit), things would have gone much the same there I suspect.

A few more notes.

For plotting the barrage, I set it for the roadway, knowing I could flip the second into the edge of the terrain or further into the open depending on his deployment.

As it happened, I hit his non-SC shining spears, and the flip was to either a Guardian formation or a voidspinner. Decided to ignore the tempting squishy infantry and put a BM on the spinner instead. Also had the nightspinners under the template but missed them all.

For deployment, I put everything but the Warhound out of range of the spinners, with the intent that they could either march into a turn 2 engagement position or board the landing craft or a thunderhawk after they arrived for a turn 2 air assault.

Everything else was offboard, pretty much, which is how I normally play Marines.

I got lucky at a few points: critting a scorpion after doing 1 point of damage, and rolling an above average number of hits at a couple of crucial moments.

At one point I shot my Warhound at a formation of falcons 4cm into some ruins. They were behind a gw plastic ruin wall. Would Oz players have played that as being out of line of sight?

I killed 1 Falcon with that shot.

Thanks for the playtest tt and ec.
It would be a valid target in the Australians "interpretation" of the rule book.
Cheers
