Post subject:  Battle of Jamaca Pond- Steel Legion vs. Orks

Hello all, new to the boards and to Epic.
I had my 3 1/2 (one turn against Coach counts as half a game ...maybe even a full game....right?) game this past friday with Chroma and i just had to share it, due to the comical nature of the game.

it was a 2000 point game of steel legion (me) against orks (chroma)
the game was highlighted by INCREDIBLY BAD dice rolls by me. I failed so many activations, and rolled so many ones that it became comical. Chroma even commented that if i didn't fail so many activations that i would have won easily. I only have two pictures of the game the first is a failure earlier in the game of my shadowsword leading superheavy company failing to whack a stompa mob.. and the second and most glaring is a failed artillery barrage on Chroma's remaining BTS stompa mob.....AARRGGHH!!!

overall it was a fun game
i wanted to experiment with a superheavy...heavy list so i took 2 SHT co with 1 shadowsword and 2 baneblades each, 2 sentinels troops, hydras, some basilisks, a warhound and some thunderbolts....(because of my rolls, the thunderbolts did not activate until turn 3 and finally got me my one and only victory condition BTS..yeah finally got those stompas.) I lost 2-1 with Chroma getting BTS and they shall not pass- i think...Chroma help me out here.

i know this isn't a full battle report, but i wanted to comment on some of the strengths and weaknesses of the orks and steel legion

1. superheavies are tough....really tough...like super tough.. and i like having the mixed units because the shadowswords are so threatening. chroma spent so much time trying to destroy the two sht co's that my other forces were able to threaten other objectives. if i actually activated and the dice were nice to me i would have steamrolled his entire right flank (as i had deployed both sht's on my left flank.)

2. orks are devilishly tough nuts to crack, especially if the dice gods are in their favor and they are in cover. and i officially hate Big gun units now but i think i will try to build them when i get enough orks. i am turning into a big fan of the blitz brigade and the storm boys after this game. but the blitz brigades are very fragile and broke easily against even non-activated sht's shooting

3. sentinels are fun and fast but fragile. but excellent at setting up crossfires on a sustain-again if you actually don't fail the freaking activation!!!!!

4. epic is fun and i am very thankful to chroma for his hospitality and to the new england epic community especially dave.
