Interesting report, The Abattoir is a Monster!

Thanks for the report, feels that the IH needed more shooting to try and deal with the Abattoir and not close the range.

Further thoughts, in your games do you ever pass the initiative over when winning the Strategy Roll?

On the first turn I would have had the Necrons activate and then gone for the shooting or even make sure that they have finished activating before moving anything within engage range from the portals.

+1

If the Necron player holds most of his/her force in reserve and especially if he/she doesn't set up any portal attacks the first turn definitely a good idea to force them to go first. You will have free range to do what ever you like positioning and shooting after they are out of activations. March to objectives and castle them and throw what ever shots into the Abattoir that you can. Just stay out of the Abattoirs 55cm effective zone if possible. Then that's 750 points that's had two turns doing nothing but moving. Use some scouts to force its attack the third turn and you have effectively neutralized it.
