So further test game with the Iyanden. I modified my list to make it a bit more competitive IMO and took to the table against CAA again, this time facing his Thousand Sons. My list was: Avatar Wraithguard + Wraith Seer Wraithguard (4) + Wave Serpents Wraithguard (5) + Wave Serpents Aspect Warriors (Swooping Hawks) + Exarch Windriders Rangers (6) Swords of Vaul (3 Falcons & 2 Firestorms) Swords of Vaul (3 Falcons & 2 Firestorms) War Walkers (6) Vampire Raider Wraithship Vs. Retinue + Supreme Commander & Rhinos Retinue + Rhinos Terminators + Daemonic Pact & Champion Defilers Defilers Armoured Company (3 Land Raiders & Predator) Warphound Warphound Doomwings Doomwings Greater Daemon & 9 (6+3) Lesser Daemons Plan was this time not to through away my Vampire Raider and instead use it to snipe enemy units and in a desperate situation get my BTS out of trouble. Turn 1 – No teleports – SR to Thousand Sons 1. Defilers advance through cover & fire on Rangers – 4 hits, 2 dead 3 BM 2. Rangers regroup, move back and remove all BM 3. Doomwings CAP 4. Spacecraft – Orbital Barrage hits Ret(SC) & clips Ret. Ret(SC) lose a Rhino & Supreme Commander (3 BM). Ret take a BM 5. Defilers advance and fire on War Walkers – 1 hit, 1 dead, 2 BM 6. WG(SC) Overwatch – fail & remove BM 7. Ret(SC) march – fail & remove 1 BM (3x 1’s in a row) 8. Vampire Raider stands down 9. Doomwings ground attack Rangers. 3 hits, 1 dead, 2 BM 10. War Walkers regroup – fail & remove all BM 11. Ret march into the centre 12. SoV double – move, shoot, move. Fire on Retinue 3AT hits, 2 Dead Rhinos, 3 BM 13. Armoured Company double behind cover 14. Windriders double behind cover as much as possible 15. Warphound doubles into cover in front of Windriders. Fires on SoV for a BM 16. WG(Mech) double (SC re-roll) towards the Warphound, shoot & strip both shields 17. Warphound doubles & shoots WG(Mech) 3AT hits, 2 dead Wave Serpents, 3 BM 18. SoV engage Warphound – fail remove BM 19. WG(BTS) double – fail remove BM BM on Doomwings, all rally save Warphound. Turn 2 – Avatar & Terminators teleport near Warphound & WG(Mech) no BM’s SR to Thousand Sons 1. Terminators summon Greater Daemon & a Flamer – Engage WG(Mech) & smash them for no lose, 2 Wraithguard run away broken. 2. Warphound engages Avatar & Windriders – fails – takes BM & shoots Avatar for a BM 3. SoV advance and shoot Terminators – 9 hits, 1 dead Lesser Daemon, 1BM 4. Avatar engages Warphound – Avatar dies from supporting fire & crit. Warphound breaks with 1 wound, moves backwards and dies from failed Difficult Terrain Test…. 5. Windriders engage Warphound – Fail (SC-roll) fail take BM & run away from Terminators. 6. Defilers double and shoot SoV for a BM 7. SoV return the favour & Sustain on Defilers. 6 hits, 2 dead. Defilers break and retreat behind a hit. 8. Defilers sustain on Warwalkers 1 hit, saved, 1BM 9. Rangers regroup – fail and remove BM 10. Ret summons 3 lesser daemons & regroup – fail take BM and move. 11. Vampire Raider ground attacks the Terminators – CAPPED – Doomwings lose 1 to AA (2BM) 1 hit on VR saved. Greater Daemon takes a wound (BM) 12. Ret(SC) march – fail take BM & move forwards. 13. WG(SC) Overwatch 14. Doomwings intercept VR, lose 1 to AA (2BM) – 1 hit wounds (2BM) 15. Warwalkers regroup, advance & remove BM 16. Armoured Company doubles to shoot AoV – 1 BM 17. WG(BTS) double, shoot Defilers killing 2 and breaking them. They retreat behind cover. Fly offs – BM on Vampire Raider & both Doomwing formations lose a further plane & take 2 BM Rallies – Both Defilers & Warphound rally, SoV rally. No other formations rally. Turn 3 – Swooping Hawks teleport behind WG(BTS) and pick up 3 BM – SR to Thousand Sons 1. Warphound doubles and shoots WG(BTS) – 3 dead Wave Serpents 4 BM 2. Retinue summon 4 Lesser Daemons & engage WG(BTS). Retinue lose 2 daemons & the Wraithguard break with 3 remaining WG. 3. SoV advance, fire on Armoured Company killing a Landraider – 2 BM 4. Armoured Company marshals – shoot SoV 1 hit, saved 1 BM & remove BM 5. War Walkers advance and shoot Retinue for a BM 6. Terminators double, greater daemon shoots Windriders 1 MW hit, 2 BM Windriders break & run away. 7. Vampire Raiders stands down 8. Defilers march to their Blitz 9. SoV double and shoot second Defilers killing both 10. Doomwings ground attack – fail and stand down 11. WG(SC) stay on Overwatch on Iyanden Blitz 12. Doomwings ground attack – fail and stand down 13. Rangers double, shoot Ret for 1 BM 14. Ret(SC) marshal, move forward and remove all BM Defilers & Retinue rally. SoV rallies. WG(Mech), Windriders, Swooping Hawks & WG(BTS) fail to rally. 1-0 to Iyanden (defend the flag) Turn 4 – SR to Iyanden 1. SoV sustain on Armoured Company – destroys a Land Raider & Arm Comp breaks 2. War Walkers advance and shoot Warphound – 2 hits strip shields, 1 BM 3. Rangers sustain on Retinue killing 2 Thousand Sons 3 BM 4. Warphound advances – fails takes BM and shoots War Walkers 3 die and formation breaks. 5. Vampire Raider ground attacks Retinue killing a Rhino & breaking the formation. 6. Ret(SC) summon 2 lesser daemons engage the Rangers and wipe them out. 7. Doomwing ground attack SoV, AA misses & Doomwing misses 1BM each 8. WG(SC) Overwatch – fail & remove BM 9. Defilers advance, shoot SoV killing 2 Falcons and a Firestorm. SoV break and run forward. 10. Doomwings ground attack – fail and stand down 11. SoV Advance and fire on Ret(SC) killing a lesser daemon & 2 Rhinos (3BM) 12. Terminators advance - greater daemon shoots Windriders 1 MW hit, 2 BM 3 more dead Windriders. Game finishes 0-0 and on points count back there are 10 pts difference between the sides a good draw. We both failed lots of activations and if the Iyanden had managed to engage the Warphound at the end of turn one things might have been a bit different. List is fine for approval. The amount of 2+ activations I failed was embarrassing, although T-T also failed his fair share too. Losing my SC from the spaceship did not help matters. |

One of my pet peeves is the 2+ activation for a race that is supposed to be superior to mere humans (Marines) whilst also being able to predict the future to the extent of knowing where the Bloody handed god will materialise . . . ![]() That aside, it looked to be a very interesting game, and seems to support the suggestion that the NetEA Iyanden list is balanced and an interesting alternative to the E-UK list. |

Thanks for the Batrep Tiny Tim. It became almost comical with the amount of activations the pair of you were failing. Speaking of which I am not sure if the WG(SC) already had a BM or not but if they didn't they should have passed their activation in both the first and third turn as the Wraithseer's formation is always 1+ int. I am keen to see the pics, it was a super tight game coming down to 10 points. Thanks again for the batrep. Cheers Mic |

Ah no the wraithseer formation didn't have any BMs the whole game, I don't think T-T noticed that. I have only had a few reads of the list and I haven't, do you think it is really necessary? It is a wraithguard formation and they are ghosts in armoured shells after all. |

Definately missed the 1+ Iniitiative. Wraithseer will be mounted up now and used more aggressively from now on. |
