Epic Tau seem deceptive, I've never played against them? I figured they were kind of like Eldar in my head, they seem as fragile, but the shooting casualties add up? So I guess they are a hybrid between Eldar and Guard.

The Tau are their own thing. Their paper stats are very low. They'll lose every head-butting contest. Coordinated Fire + Crossfire is what seems to make them work.
