Had a game against Steve54 and his Tau last night, and amazingly, managed to take some pics! :o

his list (from memory)

Turn 1

setup (note fellblade hiding in terrain, what with him being the only legit target of the tau pinpoints...)

IF win rolloff and fellblade doubles forward to pop the skyray in the BTS firewarriors....

Start of turn, terminators teleport in front of big fire warrior formation with 1 BM

IF win rolloff, tacs sustain on fire warriors and do a wee bit of damage, terminators retain and kill 5 stands, but lose 3 in return, termies win, but break

just couldn't manage to convert the 1-0 into a victory thanks to steve playing a stellar defensive game, I also thought my scouts could march back to my blitz to claim DTF but they were 10cm out......

thoughts on the game, the hyperios are so much more useful at 45cm, in the last two games I've played they've been actively able to hit and damage aircraft.... thunderfire cannons are great but their speed lets them down, as I spent much of the game doubling, they didn't have the impact they have had in the past

storm talons are great, the 1+ int makes them super reliable, and they're as good as tbolts at intercepting, the fellblade exploded before it could do anything so yay.... and the big vindicator formations worked quite well again, they are harder to break and remain useful for longer, they definitely don't feel overpowered at 300 for 6

telelporting terminators.... although steve got 7 hits on them and I failed too many saves, they definitely feel quite weak, especially compared to when they come out of a thunderhawk, I think they are reasonably justified at 325 points, the loss of air-assault is a big reduction in their damage potential

yup, the driver was too preoccupied with avoiding getting the paintwork scratched that he failed to notice the deep hole in front of him... ;D

Gotta admit, after the first 2-3 activations of the game I thought the IF were in trouble...

looks like it was a good fight, and 2 really nicely painted armies punching on is always nice to see

first turn first activation would have been heart breaking, i think i would have retained to weep manly tears

Nice looking report guys, looking at the table I initially thought the IF would get owned as it look quite open, and the fists list is pretty short ranged. Still they slugged it out as IF do I suppose.

I guess the fellblade would have helped, but no arty or air-assault seems risky against fast moving skimmer armies.
