Post subject:  Imperial Fists V1.2 Versus Death Guard (EpicUK)

Managed a game against Steve54 last night, thought I'd try out the enlarged vindicator formation so took two of em (also, freshly painted they needed a baptism of fire)

I took lots of pics, but as usual, as the game wore on, I started forgetting.... so it kind of peters out halfway through turn 2 as is normally does... ;)

second vindicator formation moves up and hits the retinue AGAIN... all hits are saved.... grrrr

plaguehound knocks out a vindicator

Tacs double to prepare to engage T2, they spread out to avoid the worst of the nearby plaguehound's barrage

IIRC the plaguehound then singled and managed to hit the tacs, killing FOUR stands of marines and a rhino.... grrr

Terminators teleport in and are immediately broken by thunderfire cannon disrupt hits (didnt help that they came in with 2BMs)

IF terminators engage and destroy plaguehound, despite only scoring 4 hits, (3 normal, 1 MW) Steve managed to fail all 4 reinforced armour saves, must come from the same factory as my warhounds...

7 stands of plague zombies scuttle into BTB with the whirlwinds....

....they kill the hunter and another WW dies to hackdowns

something happened here... I forget who shot who or whatnot, but some vindicators ended up dead somehow

Hellblades snipe the chaplain out of the terminators...... :{[]

I now run out of pictures..... the terminators were subsequently engaged and wiped out to hackdowns by chaos marines and plaguebearers, my fellblade died to similar, could not pass a save, only making 3 power armour saves in the entire game, my tactical marines couldn't hit the back of a barn door in their engagements and Steve couldn't fail a save.... game ended 2:0 to DG with BTS and DTF after I stupidly doubled my scouts into his half but didn't nab the T&H objective.... ::)

Thoughts:

I quite like the enlarged vindicator formation, it has decent shooting and staying power, the fellblade is pretty lacklustre, it suffers from baneblade disease of needing to double everywhere to get its guns in range, so its shooting ends up being a bit pants.... could probably do with a points drop, although I'm keen to see how they perform in pairs.

I had some really terrible luck in this game, could barely pass a save or hit in an engagement and my formations got quite badly hurt in the end..... I didn't push forwards as a big wall of yellow as much as I should to put some pressure on Steve, I was just concerned about his retinues being better at fighting than my tactical formations!
