Start of Game Start of Game The SC sustains on the Deathstrikes, hits but it saves! The Tacticals retain and sustain on the Manticores, they destroy one to break it. The Deathstrike kills a Land Raider. Storm Talon's go on CAP. So do TBolts. Hyperios overwatch. A Mech Coy doubles up on the far left IG flank. Hyperios overwatch. Sentinels attempt to overwatch, fail and regroup. Storm Talon's CAP. Rough Riders double up. The Assault Centurions march. A Mech Coy doubles. Scouts march. Hydras attempt to advance, fail and regroup. Scouts march. A Mech Coy advances and takes out a Scout. The Devastator Centurions double, loose one to a mine (ug...), and take out an infantry. TBolts lay a BM on the Scouts. The Infantry coy remains on overwatch.

Turn 2 The SC tries again and this time destroys the Deathstrike, the other breaks. The Tacticals sustain on the Mech Coy and take out a Chimera and a Hydra. Manticores sustain on the Scouts, lots of hits but only one goes down. The Assault Centurions double up and take out an infantry. Devastator Centurions retain and engage. 4-0 in kills, the IG break. Rough Riders double. Scouts double and take out a Sentinel. They attempt to marshal, fail and break. Scouts engage the Manticores. They wipe them out and hack the broken Deathstrike down. The HQ advances and lays a BM on the Devs (they made 6 saves ). Overwatch time! TBolts take out the Laserback. Stop! Overwatch Time! Whoooah-ooooh-oh-oha! Hydras advance and take out a Scout. Storm Talons take out two Rough Riders. A Mech Coy doubles again. Storm Talons go on CAP. The Infantry coy doubles.

Turn 3, Terminators come in on my Blitz. Turn 3 The Assault Centurions get in the Mech Coys face. I didn't want to risk an activation so close to the Blitz, so instead of engaging with the Devs, the Tacs sustain and break the Hydras. The Mech Coy doubles out of engage range of the the Devs and sits on the Blitz. The SC takes out an infantry. TBolts lay a BM on the Scouts. The Devs double and take out an infantry. TBolts lay a BM on the Scouts. Storm Talons take out two infantry. Sentinels fail (third time!) and regroup. Storm Talons take out an infantry. Rough Riders double to screen. Scouts marshal, getting in the Rhinos. Mech Coy marshals. Scouts marshal. Infantry Coy sits on the T&H. Overwatch time! And again! Terminators advance and take out a Rough Rider to break them.

Turn 4 Turn 4 The Sentinels advance and lay a BM on the Devastators. The HQ engages them, was down by 2 in resolution but pulls of a win! (I rolled snake-eyes). The SC take out two infantry. Scouts retain, fail and move to grab a T&H. TBolts stand down. The Tacticals take out two infantry. TBolts stand down. A Storm Talon take out an infantry. The Mech Coy marshals. A Storm Talon stands down. Rough Riders screen. Scouts take out an infantry. End of Game End of Game

So a very different game for my Marines. It affectively became about area denial with the the siege line and two tacs sitting in it. We both picked on the right and rolled on the left. I retained a lot solely to lay BMs on the IG, not to break them (I usually only retain if I can break something before it activates). I could have pushed for a win turn 3, but I didn't want to risk my Centurions after slogging all the way across the board. I played it safe and went to turn 4 instead.

IF won 2-0 in turn 4, Blitz and T&H My reg hq fired upon (on an advance), then later engaged, the devastator centurions and inflicted a total of zero casualties. Even after winning the engagement. Dave's own mines beat that total. I think that kind of sums up the disparate armor save rolling in this game. sigh

Oh ya. We called it after CP ran out of activations. I would have broken his Blitz guard by firing on him and gotten T&H and Blitz as he said. I had some great armor saves this game, yes. MVP goes to the Scouts. They hung in there through lots of fire, got both my victory conditions, killed the arty/deathstrikes and even helped break the blitz guard with a single hit on a 6.
