Scouts+ las RB (realised later this should have gone on the tacs)

Used predators as proxy ravens

Dptdexys Iyanden
WG in Vampire

War Walkers

Falcons (2 Firestorms)

Guardians in Wave serpents

Both lists picked with no knowledge of what the opponent was taking.

Tacs deployed on blitz, speeders+scputs garrisoned forward behind cover, eldar hid behind cover where possible with a Walker screen.

SM won initiative
Spaceship came on, bombardment hit falcons killing 2 and breaking the formation, also killed 1 walker.
Ravens all planetfalled behind the hills in front of the eldar, 2 close up 1 on mid line

Ravens retained and shot up another falcon formation killing 4

Mounted guardians assaulted the other close up Raven formation wiping them out

Eldar retained and other mounted guardians assaulted the already fired ravens killing 1 and winning the assault

Eldar triple retained to double and shoot the midline raven formation killing 1, ravens returned fire killing 2 falcons and breaking them

Nightwings on CAP
Scouts killed a walker and moved within FF of the left mounted formation

WG on blitz went on OW
Tbolts on CAP
Vampire air assaulted tacticals surviving a point of damage from the tbolts, vampire died in assault but eldar won, 3 vehicles+SC escaped.

Speeders moved up on to other mounted guardian formation and killed a WS

Terminators air assault, surviving 1 lance +1 normal hit from the nighwings, with scouts in FF support

Death co air assaults other mounted guardians with scouts in FF support

Tacticals rally, ravens rally, ravens shed BMs
Lone falcon, 3 falcons, lone WS rally, WW fail (broken by scouts earlier), lone falcon fails

3-1 to SM (BTS, blitz, take and hold vs BTS)
Both dptdexys and I agreed it was one of the most one sided games we had played, if we hadn't been doing a batrep we would have called it at the end of turn 1 which I don't think we have ever done before in 8+ years playing.
If it hadn't been Iyanden with lots of fearless RA then IMO they would have been completely tabled far sooner, as it was it was only me makling stupid mistakes (not putting tacs on OW to protect them in t1, not picking up the termies in turn 2) that stopped it being a bigger, quicker win.

List wise the BA gain - storm ravens, death co, mods to help assault units assault, more speed, sang guard, good new pred
and lose - titans, pred destructors, vindicators (so 2 fringe units and the titans)

Storm ravens are a more than able replacement for warhounds. Warhound have void shields and MW shooting but ravens fulfil the role that warhound fulfil IMO better. Warhound generally (for SM) move forward targeting AA turn 1 to prep for air assaults and then run round using their speed afterwards. Ravens can do this even better as what they lose with no void shield+MW is more than made up for with skimmer, more movement, longer range shooting, better AT, more difficult to suppress and planetfall - all for less points. After my third activation all the ground AA was gone.

Planetfalling the ravens lets you drop them behind cover and with their range and speed they can then hit anywhere if the positioning is wrong or just pop up if correct. Using them again I'd definitely deploy them further back and have even better results.

Reading the list afterwards I think I could definitely improve on the list I used with trying combinations of raven formations, scouts+ravens and termies+ravens. Planetfalling terminators in ravens look pretty brutal. IMO the unit need fundamentally redesigning - does it need planetfall? LS don't have it in epic, can the guns be toned down so its just a fast transport with some shooting?

Other than ravens being pretty ridiculous, the 35cm blanket move feels wrong, As it is BA are the fastest army in the game, and I'm not convinced any tracked vehicle should match a skimmer. Would a 5cm bonus for doubling be better?

Certainly in my one test game I over committed with the Ravens in the first turn. But I agree that they are better than Warhounds and from the IG point of view Vultures.

What were the thoughts for dropping the SRs so close? With a 60cm shot and a 35cm move/skimmer they could have been on the mid-line and gotten to shoot before the Falcons got to them.

Either way, I agree that the lack of Warhound/Land Raider/Vindicator formations is irrelevant as you'd never take them anyway with 250 point Stormravens.

Finding a time loop that I can pop into for the duration of the test and report writing would be perfect, otherwise it is add it to the list with Iyanden, tournament preparation, Orks & EUK

The Vulture comparison is what I was thinking of all day today.
If the Marines had access to Vultures with +5 strategy, ATSKNF and 1+ initiative they would be cost around 400 points (if not more).
The Storm raven loses in range and 1 pip on the one shot AT but gains RA, Planetfall, Transport and I'd say slightly better secondary weapons so why is this formation not at least 400 points with the stats it has.

I think Steve realised this as soon as they where deployed, it would have saved a formation from assault.
