Interesting report, many thanks.

How did you and your opponent feel about the Phoenix Bombers at 325? Also, given the problems being suffered from the Whirlwinds, why didn't the PB attack them?

Thanks for the report. Interesting...

Was the Phantom armed with a powerfist? Plus, you do realise that with the 700 Phantom & 325 Pheonix Bombers it was an illegal list :0

You could of course taken Nightwings instead. This is the one issue I have with the proposed Eldar change to the Phantom cost. You can take Nightwings and Phantom in a 3k list now which removes one of the drawbacks.

Nope, it says 1/3 of the points so 1000p are the limit (thatts how it's bern played in the swedish tournaments anyways...)

Thanks once again for the report. You are a machine doing all these reports :)

Some thoughts.
It might be me who sucks at this but why do you almost always take 6-8 rangers in a formation? From what I see people tend to take 4-5 unless they got some odd points to spend. That way you get a higher activation count and/or more points to spend on lets say stronger falcon formations with 2 firestorms instead.

Its kind of hard to tell whats going on with all pictures being close ups but why did the Phantom activate so early and just to shoot at some scouts? Did I miss something?

Still waiting for you to use the tripple retain :)

Thanks again for sharing!

(and the 33% is just an Armyforge thing, Mordoten is right about it being 1/3, just look at your own armylist ;))

OK, Phantom shot the scouts to clear the Wraith gate(Just out of picture), so it could be used(My understanding is that enemy troops block the gate if they are within 15cm)...

Webways are only blocked if they are physically covered by units, not ZofC or by being within 15cm. Although units nearby can make it difficult to use a webway as you want.

Like dptdexys says, though AFAIK the question how to handle the interaction with Eldar wraithgate has never been completely resolved. There are at least three options
  1. Gates cannot be blocked at all - rarely played because it causes issues with units deploying under these circumstances
  2. May be partially blocked, allowing 2x DC units out under these circumstances, who must engage the unit actually blocking the gate. - rarely played because this is so restrictive. The Eldar start off at a disadvantage so rarely attempt this.
  3. May be completely blocked. Nothing may exit until the 'gate is cleared. What I usually play (as an Eldar player). Careful positioning of the objectives and the Wraithgate, together with use of formations can minimise the possibility of blocking.

Note, complete formations may exit a Wraithgate that is covered by enemy ZoC (space permitting), though they must assault the enemy formation in this case.

I guess I like my Rangers sizes at about 6 units in a formation, when I build my list/s. Yes that comes at lower activation count and/or more points to spend on lets say stronger falcon formations with 2 firestorms instead. In this game that was 1 extra activation, if I run the Rangers at 4 units per formation..The other reason is my opponent can be aggressive with his scouts, so having the larger formation will mean I should out number him...Depending on which Army he is using...
Ok, then it makes more sense. In our group Scouts is mainly used to block movement or to be cheap activations. Perhaps that's why I find the larger scout units odd... A suggestion might be to group the Rangers a little closer to each other and start on OW if you are fearing an assault. Other scouts will then have to be very lucky to win the fight, even against a 4 man unit. And if you loose the loss is only 100p...
That reminds me of another thing, why don't you start with the Rangers on OW? It is "free" on two units if you garrison...:)

Aha :)
We play that it can never be blocked but as the others points out there is no clear rule that I know of. If the gate is blocked by enemy troops within 15 cm the Stormserpent needs a point reduction ;) Perhaps the Gate issue can be solved by adding a new FAQ or by rewriting the Special rule?
Still, moving up so early and firing at a scout unit with a Titan looks strange. Also after doing that you didn't move anything through the gate until much later. What if the Scouts just had regrouped to be within 15 cm again then the Titans action had been in vain.
And a bit later when the Aspects assault they managed to get into base to base with their opponent from the gate, how did that happen? Like always I wasn't there so its hard to tell whats going on and I might fail to see the larger picture :)

Ah, I'm not used to the "new" banshees yet ;D
Need to try them out some more now that they have some more reach. (Still takes scorpions for their better saves...)
