Took the Knight out for another game, this time against the Steel legion.

Turn 1: Knights win initiative.

K: Artillery sustains on Vultures destroying 1 of them. 1 Chimera from Reg HQ is also hit and destroyed (2BM each).
K: Artillery retains and sustains on vultures destroying 1 and breaks the formation. Also manages to kill hydra and 1 stand from the reg hq (3BM).
IG: mech co doubles into city with the help of the SC and fires on errants for 1BM.
K: thunderbolts ground attack storm troopers and kills 1 stand (2BM).
IG: reave rdoubles forward and fires on castellans doing 3DC (4BM).
K: thunderbolts ground attacks storm troopers and destroys 1 valkyrie (2BM).
IG: rough riders marches to the center.
K: Castellans marshalls and moves into cover behind the city.
IG: artillery holds and regroups.
K: Paladins on right flank advances into forest and fires on mecg co in city killing 2 stands (3BM).
IG: warhound on right flank advances and fires on paladins for 1BM.
K: errants doubles into city and fires on mech co for 1BM.
IG: reg hq marshalls, shedding 3BM, and moves forward.

TURN 2: Knights win Initiative.

K: errants engages mech co in city and wins the combat for no losses.
K: paladins on left flank retains and engages rough riders wiping them out for no losses.
IG: warhound sustains on lancers killing 1 knight (3BM).
IG: artillery retains and sustains on artillery killing 2 gun transports (3BM).
K: thunderbolts ground attacks storm troopers killing 1 stand (2BM).
IG: reaver advances and fires on paladins doing 3DC (4BM).
K: artillery on right flank forest marshalls and clear all 3 BM.
IG: storm troopers marches to knight deployment zone on left flank.
K: castellans advances backwards and fires on storm troopers killing 1 stand and 1 valkyrie, breaking the formation.
IG: reg hq doubles into city and fires on errants for 1BM.
K: artillery sustains on reg hq i city killing 2 stands (3BM).
K: paladins doubles into city within support range of reg hq. they open fire and kill 1 chimera (2BM).
K: lancers engages reg hq, they win the combat with support from the paladins for no losses.
K: thunderbolts ground attacks broken storm troopers killing 2 stands and 1 valkyrie.

END PHASE:

TURN 3: Steel Legion wins initiatiive.

IG: mech co holds and regroups.
K: castellans sustains on storm troopers killing 2 stands and 1 valkyrie. Breaks the formation.
IG: reaver: advances bakwards and fires on lancers. the Baron and 1 lancer is killed and the formaton breaks.
IG: artillery sustains on broken lancer and wipes it out. the IG player claims the BTS-objective.
K: artillery sustains on vultures and breaks them.
IG: warhound doubls down the right flank and fires on artillery for 1BM.
K: thunderbolts ground attack artillery and destoys 2 breaking the formation.
K: thunderbolts ground attack broken artillery and wipes out the formation.
K: paladins on left flank marches to SL blitz and claims both the Blitz objective and T&H.

Game is called.

Knights win 3 -1 (Blitz, T&H and DtF - BTS)

my thoughts:

well, the SL list had very few activations because of the reaver. It also had no air units and very little ground AA (2 hydras). This time i concentrated on killing of smaller units and ignoring the reraver.

The Knight BTS is almost always a very aggresive unit so they are always in danger. The Baron really leads from the front so to speak. I have started to count on giving uo the BTS objective to my opponent because of this.
Castellans are a really good firepower boost. This list was a good mix of engagment prepping units (artillery and thunderbolts) and then lots of engage-monsters (paladins, errants and lancers).

I was lucky to be able to win turn 2 initiative so i could assault the SL player and avoid being assaulted. That kinda sealed the game i think.

It was broken by artillery before it could activate. At least that's what's on the report.

Isn't Steel Legion a low activation army?? 8 is low but not far from the usual 3 activations per 1000 pts for the IG.
