I had thought the list required 1 core choice per line formation, but on revisiting the list you can have 2 line formations per core unit. Either way the list pretty much relied on the 3 terminator formations to do the work, the problem with teleporting each one was the lack of mobility once they came down. I made a lot of silly mistakes this game, but in doing it a again I would have put one group of terminators in the thunderhawk, and been more cautious with the ravenwing. I had hoped the ground attacks would take care of the jetbikes but when it failed I still moved the RW up way too aggressively and that cost me. I also had little to deal with the phantom, I should have hid more to avoid its pulsars. Annoyingly its so mobile, its harder to hide from than say a warlord and comes with decent AA. Having no titans of my own, I relied on the Nephilim for ranged firepower and they were fairly effective. Had CAL taken nightwings I think things would have been even more difficult for me. I might look to drop the DW numbers in the future to invest in some landraiders for mobile staying power and a whirlwind formation or RW support formation. |

Geoff, List was as follows: Ulthwe Pixies of Doom Guardian Warhost Mounted Guardian Warhost + 2 Wraithguard, + 3 x Platforms Black Guardians Mounted + Seer Council Swords of Vaul - 4 Prisms & Firestorm Swords of Vaul - 4 Prisms & Firestorm Night Spinners Jetbikes Phantom Avatar Portal I had read the DA list the same way as Geoff had. I think maybe rewording the list would make things easier. Even lay it out a bit better would be an idea. I think the Nephilm are too cheap for what they brought to the party. I think on the night we both had some bad luck. The dice gods were against me and there was a lot of 1 coming up for both shooting and saving throws. The DA suffered the lack of mobility and it was easy to pen them in and pick them apart. We shall see what the next round of testing brings. Cheers Aaron |
