Had another game today. Decided to try out Dobbsys new space wolves since i promised to help out with the testing for approved. Me and uvenlord are in the same group so this would be test 2 out of 6.

TURN 1: Speed freaks win initiative

O: Fortress mob doubles forward on roght flank.
SW: Spaceship bombardment happens right between the Blitz and the right most DtF objevtive. But both the scout warbikes and KoS that gets bhit only gets 2BM. All 3great companies drop pod in, 2 on the right flank and 1 in the center. Thje company in thre middle suffers i kill from OW fire from warbikes.
SW: The same GC in the middle retain initiative and engages the warbike outriders in front of them. the y wipe out the bikers for no loss of their own.
O: KoS doubles around the forest and fires on the GC that just slaughtered their fellow bikers. 5 stands die and the formation breaks. Since they can't move outside 15 cm from any orks they are wiped out on the spot.
O: Fighta Bombas retain with the help of the SC and ground attacks the Great Company on the right flank, 1 stand dies.
SW: The reaver titan doubles towards the middle and fires on the KoS, 1 scorcha is destroyed.
O: KoS doubles to the right flank and fires on the Great company there killing 4 stands and breaking the formation (Hmmm... think we put to many BM:s on them).
SW: wolves doubles on the left flank.
O: Landa ground atatcks GC on the hill and kills 1 stand.
SW: Wolves doubles towards middle hill.
O: Warbike outriders doubles and encircles the hill with the Great company on it. They fire at them and kill 2 stands.
SW: thunderbolts go on CAP.
O: Blitz Brigade on left flank doubles and fires on wolves for 1BM.
O: Fighta bombas ground attack broken GC in the forest on the right flank. thunderbolts intercept but only do 1BM. 2 stands are killed by the fightas.

END PHASE:

Great Company rallies.

TURN 2: Speed freaks win initiative

O: KoS engages the GC on the hill, with the supporting fire of the outriders that has encirceld the hill they wipe the marines out for the loss of 3 scorchas.
O: Landa retains and ground atatcks GC in forest on right flank for 1BM.
SW: reaver sustains on KoS in front of itself, kills 10 vehicles and breaks the formaton .
O: The fortress Mob doubles forward on the right flank. they open fire with a whooping 36 dice but only manage to kill 1 stand!!
SW: Wolves marches into forest oin the middle of the board.
SW: GC by SW-blitz retains and doubles up the left flank and fire on blitz brigade for 1BM.
O: the same blitz brigade holds annd fires back on the GC destroying 3 rhinos.
SW: wolves engages the other blitz brigade but looses the combat.
O: warbike outriders doubles forward to the forest on the right flank where the lone stand of the GC is hiding. they finally wipe out the formation.
SW: thunderbolts go on CAP.
O: Fighta bombas ground atatck GC on left flank, intercepting thunderbolts only do 1BM and so does the Fightas.
O: fighta bombas stand down.

END PHASE:

Wolves rally.
KoS fails to rally.

TURN 3: Space Wolves wins initiative.

SW: Reaver titan advances towards SW-blitz and fires on outriders by forest on right flank. 6 bikes are destroyed and the formation breaks.
SW: GC on left flank retains and engages the blitz brigade in front of them. they win the combat for no losses.
O: landa ground atatcks wolves in forest, 2 puppies die.
SW: the wolves marshalls and clear all their BM:s.
O: Fighta bombas ground atatcks the reaver titan and strips 3 shields.
SW: thunderbolts ground atatck blitz brigade on left flank. 1 gunwagon is destroyed and the formation breaks.
O: fortress Mob doubles towards the SW-blitz and fires on the reaver titan stripping it´s last shield.
SW: wolves marshalls and clear both their BM:s.
O: Fighta bombas ground atatcks wolves in middle forest for 1BM.
O: KoS doubles to the same forest and fires on the wolves too. 2 stands die and the formation breaks.

END PHASE:

1 FIGHTA BOMBA FROM BOTH FORMATIONS ARE SHOT DOWN BY HUNTER FLAK ON THEIR WAY OUT.

BLITZ BRIGADE 1 AND 2 RALLIES.

TURN 4: Space Wolves wins initiative.

SW: Reaver titan sustains on fortress Mob and 2 DC is made.
O: Warbike outriders in middle doubles back to Ork blitz and cover both the blitz and the right most DtF objective.
SW: thunderbolts ground attack fortress Mob for 2 DC and 1 of the WE:s goes down.
O: KoS doubles around forest and fires on the wolves and wipes them out.
SW: GC on the left fank marches to deny the TSNP objective for the ork player.
O: KoS by ork blits doubles to claim the left most DtF objective.
SW: wolves engages fortress mob by SW blitz. they loose the comabt and are wiped out. But they manage to killa flak wagon and do !DC on a gunfortress.
O: blitz brigad ein the middle of the board doubles to the SW blitz and fires o nthe reaver titan, strips 1 shield and scores a critical hit!
O: Landa ground atatcks reaver titan and also manages to score a critical hit!n the titan breaks and back off a little.
O: fighta bombas stand down.
O: fighta bombas ground atatck the reaver and do 1DC.
O: fortress mob engages the reaver titan and manage to win the combat by 1!.
O: blitz brigade holds and regroups.

END PHASE:

Reaver titan fails to rally and the Speed Freaks can claim the Blitz objective!

My thoughts:

This was the first time ever for me trying out the drop mpods. Needless to say i did a really bad job! After the first turn i was pretty convinced i would be wiped out except for the reaver in the end of turn 2. But in the end it was a very even fight that was decided in the end phase of turn 4.

If it had gone to points i would have lost for sure though.

Great companies reinforced by long fangs and wolf priests are a really, really good unit to pod in. IIf i can get a hang of it this could be a really fun list to play with the drop pod tactics! Fenrisian wolves are scary god for their points!!

Having the reaver titan guarding the blitz and keeping the marine side clear of to many LV:s was really good too. i think it works good with as a rear guard to the drop podding units.

I didn't find anything that much overpowered. But my lousy tactics and some seriously good rolling from my opponent saw lot of ny marines go down too fast.

We both agreed that the great companys where tough to wipe out and that felt very Space Wolfish...

Thanks for the batrep Mordoten and Uvenlord.

So all the wolves formations were wiped out in assaults?

Just something I noticed ... If you used a Strike Cruiser only 20 units are poddable. 3 GCs with 8 units each wouldn't be able to pod-in, only 2 plus change.

Oh damn... Missed that. Sorry!

Two of the GC:s who podded in where wiped out in assaults. The third one got shot to pieces with multiple formations shooting at it.

Uvenlord was not the opponent here. But he and me are in the same group so our batreps can be counted as one groups. We're 6-7 guys playing epic in our town now!

Mordoten I think we need 4, unless I've missed one of your group's? I've started marking the games in the "All your SM BatReps belong here " thread to keep better track.
