Cool! Thanks for the report!

What are your thoughts on the warmonger? I'm curious how you'd do if you didn't take the warmonger and spent the 1400 points on a second warlord and reaver to get more activations.

How come you didn't take a Lysander fighter? Tactically they should be a automatic must take with a Warmonger, as being a 0-1 per Warmonger 75 point formation it allows you to spend 1325 on 2 activations, meaning the Warmonger doesn't have to reduce your activation count as much.

I'd happily take a Warmonger at 3k as still possible to get a good 8 activation army including it. One of these days I'll give it a whirl.

Good going for posting up so many reports! :)

Lysanders require a Warmonger to access but they still use a support slot. Basically you pay 75 points for a crappier Thunderbolt. You save 75 points over taking a thunderbolt squadron but unless you really need points elsewhere there isn't much reason to take it.

The Lysander used to come standard with the warmongers quite a while back. Didn't even have a separate entry. Ben changed it and I'm still not clear on the reasons why it changed. All it seems to do is ensure folks don't actually use them.

Odd how differently people look at lists and units in different ways. I'd always 110% definitely use a Lysander if taking a Warmonger, the extra 75 compared to Thunderbolts is a big saving with tight points and it taking a support slot isn't really an issue. It's more vulnerable than Thunderbolts due to only being a single fighter but if it is used close to the Warmonger the Warmongers 8 x 45cm AA5+ shots should protect it from enemy fighters. Please leave it as is now and each to their own preferences.

I'll do that 3k Warmonger report at some point, though not necessarily any time soon.

Eh. Not looking to change it right now, just making an observation. If it did ever change the fighter would just bundle back into the Warmonger. As PFE100 pointed out, it is 25 points more to get a second activation using that support slot if you take a Recon Cohort. I don't know many AMTL lists that points are so tight you can't find 25 to spare.

To me it seems a bit silly to argue that it's a great buy as it is because the Warmonger can protect it though. What exactly would you use it for? It's got fairly shoddy AA due to being a single fighter and can only ground attack infantry 15cm out from the warmonger umbrella unless you want it intercepted. I'd think you'd get far better utility from the sentinels.
