Space Wolves 2.4.2 Vs Steel Legion Space Wolves – Jimmy 1. Great Company 1 (BTS) + Wolf Lord + 2 x Long Fangs + 2 x Wolf Guard Terminators Drop Pods 2. Great Company 2 + Rune Priest + 2 x Long Fangs + 2 x Dreadnaughts Drop Pods 3. Scouts + Rhinos 4. Strike Cruiser 5. Land Speeders 1 6. Land Speeders 2 7. Swiftclaw Bikes + 2 Attack Bikes 8. Land Raiders 1 + Hunter 9. Land Raiders 2 + Hunter Steel Legion – Aaron 1. Regt Hq - C + Hydra 2. Tank Coy (BTS) - C + Vanquisher + Hydra 3. Super Hvy Tank Coy - C 2 x Shadowsword 1 x Baneblade + Hydra 4. Deathstrike Missile Battery 5. Sentinel Sqn - C 6. Rough Rider Pl - C 7. Artillery Bty 3 x Basilisks 8. Strike Cruiser Activates and fires its orbital, catching the Baneblade and Hydra from the Sup Hvy Coy, the Hydra explodes and the Baneblade shakes it off. Drop Pods are on target and land near the SW objectives. No Guard are in range of the Deathwind and the two Great Companies disembark. ![]() 2. Great Company 1 Engages the Sup Hvy Coy, they destroy the Baneblade and a Shadowsword for no loss. Sup Hvy Tk Coy BROKEN 3. Guard Artillery light up GC1, two Grey Hunters are annihilated in the barrage4 4. Switclaws fearing and assault from the Deathriders march to screen GC 1 5. Guard Thunderbolts ground attack GC2 killing three Grey Hunters 6. GC2 Engages the Sentinels defending the Blitz, in a rare feat the Sentinels deny the Wolves 9 – 6 in resolution. Snake Eyes on the Marine Roll. ![]() 7. Guard Deatstrikes unload on Land Raider one vaporising two. 8. LR1 Marches behind GC1 9. RHQ doubles forward and fires on the broken GC2, two more Grey Hunters go down. 10. LR2 doubles to the centre and fires on RHQ, 5 Chimera are destroyed 11. Sup Hvy Pl doubles forward and fires on LR2 and finds that a 3 is just too hard on the dice 12. LS1 advance in support of LR2 13. Tank Coy doubles along the guard long edge and fire on GC1, tow more marines go down 14. Wolf Scouts advance and fan out to secure Defend The Flag 15. Rough Riders advance to screen the remaining Shadowsword from Sup Hvy Tk Coy 16. LS2 advance and fire on the Rough Riders, one goes down. Rally – Marine GC2 Fails Guard Sentinels and SHT Coy Fail Turn 2 – Marines 1. LS2 Advance behid RHQ and for on SHT Pl, causing a BM 2. LR2 retains and engages RHQ, in a hard fought fight marines win 10 – 9. RHQ withdraws to the vacant marine objective 3. Guard Artillery unloads once again on GC1, three more are destroyed 4. LR1 advances and fires on the broken RHQ, two go down to BM and one dies from the fire 5. LS2 sustains on the lone Shadowsword, it is destroyed by the BM and two hits 6. Tank Coy Doubles again along the edge and fires on GC1, two more go down and it breaks 7. Deathriders retain and engage the Swiftclaws now alone, the bikes are wiped out 8. Wolf Scouts advance and maintain their hold on DTF 9. Deathstrikes advance and fire on LS1 causing a BM 10. SHT Pl marshals and again cant hit. 11. Thuderbolts ground attacks LS1 and destroy one. Rally - Marines GC2 Fail ![]() Turn 3 – Marines 1. LS2 Doubles behind the Tank Coy, fire causes a BM 2. LR2 doubles and fires on the Tank Coy now in a crossfire due to the speeders, five go down and the Coy breaks and withdraws to the Marines Objective 3. Artillery sustains fire on LS1 and causes another kill 4. Deathriders see an opportunity to get the BTS and engage GC1 remaining Terminator stands, marines win another tight fight 9 – 8. 5. LR1 advances and fires on Tank Coy killing one from the BM 6. Deathstrikes double and fire on LS1 causing a BM 7. LS1 marches to try and block the table 8. Sentinel fires on LS2 causing a BM 9. Wolf Scouts go onto Overwatch 10. SHT Pl doubles onto Marine side on the table and fires on LS2 killing one. ![]() ![]() Game called 1 – 0 to Marines DTF, a very tight game and hard for the Guard to take control with some early losses and having to defend the drop. Nil issues with the Wolves, the drop supported by the armour and speeders performed as per normal marines. Yes I totally forgot to use my second set of Thunderbolts for the entire game. Cheers CAL, Well that's now 3 games with the wolves (eldar, orks, IG) with two being drop heavy and one being mech heavy. Whilst a time has been an issue they're typically very close and drawn at the end of 3rd turn though the one against eldar was a close loss. The next one I think we should look at trying to exploit the list and do something different that our typical builds, perhaps a thunderhawk heavy air assault with lots of cheaper blood/skyclaws and LR crusaders air delivered into the fight. |
