Slightly bigger rematch and aircraft. Steel Legion (Tournament pack 2013) - 3000 Reg HQ + Hydra (commissar) (550) Mech Inf + Hellhounds (commissar) (525) Tank company + Hydra + Hellhounds (commissar) (825) BTS Inf Company + Fire support (commissar) (350) Sentinels (commissar) (100) Sentinels (commissar) (100) Artillery Battery (Bombards) (250) Thunderbolt (150) Thunderbolt (150) Based on 2000 point list. This time will try and stick to the plan. Inf co garrison on one flank. Tanks and mech inf deploy on other flank and try to roll over whatever is there. Bombards deploy in middle and support where needed. Sentinels act as screen. Iron Warriors (1.0a) - 3000 Based on discussions in the dev thread played with the following changes:- Emplacements at 3 for 25 points Stalker 50 points with 2 shots. In both cases will try to note what would have happened without those changes. Iron Warriors Company (4 Rhino, Stalker, warsmith) (445) Iron Warriors Company (3 Land Raiders, 1 Rhino, Stalker) (585) BTS Iron Warriors Company (3 Land Raiders, 1 Rhino, Stalker) (585) BTS Artillery Battery (emplacements) (325) Artillery Battery (emplacements) (325) Chosen (+ 2dreadnoughts) (225) Arm. Assault Company (8 vindicators) (320) Hellblade fighter (200) Chosen try to hold flank. IW formations push towards blitz through one objective with SC nearest table edge. Vindicators as a reserve. I'm not convinced by the list. I suspect I'm too light on activations. I also suspect I've got too much artillery. Finding Chaos lists hard to build as I keep on adding things to formations. |

General Thoughts Planes are interesting. Interaction with ground flak and planning of attack and disengage paths will take some getting used to. misplayed IW deployment (needed something more substantial opposite tank co) and turn 3 (activation order wrong) couple of key points where luck seemed to be against IW. Losing initiaive on turn 3 was bad. Taking heavy casulties on turn 2 assault was also bad. Thoughts on IW range 30 on stalker feels quite short compared to 45 on hydra, not sure stalkers fired flak all game, may be that hydra's are good rather than stalkers bad (range 60 on marine hunters looks very nasty!) emplacements are interesting. Didn't really help basilisk on left who were doomed when attacked by tank co. Did help basilisks on right who would have been hit twice by thunderbolts. Don't think the list itself caused the loss, just errors in deployment and play. Happy for any suggestions on where I went wrong playing this game. |
