We called this one towards the end of the third 3-0 IG. They had TSNP and DTF. Getting T&H most likely would have happened. Start of Game Start of Game The Sentinels take out a Genestealer on the left. And lay a BM on the one on the right. The Biovores take out two Guardsmen. A Company engages the Stealers. They win by two. A Swarm doubles up and takes out a Sentinel. The Genestealers engage the Company in cover. Which uses its overwatch and breaks them after they move. The Manticores hit the formation in the open, taking out some brood. A Swarm doubles up. TBolts break the Swarm in the open, taking out a Warrior and a fex. DANGER ZONE! A Swarm doubles up and lay a BM on the Sentinels. Tbolts hack down a Broodlord. DANGER ZONE!! The BTS doubles up. The Shadowsword makes short work of a Haruspex. The Dom doubles on the Infantry in cover and lays a BM. The Deathstrikes hit her for four but she saves one and lives. Curses! The Storm troopers double and lay a BM, taking two brood out. The HQ doubles and lay a BM on the BTS. The Mech coy attempts to double, fails and moves with the guardmen mounted up (ball to the wall...). The Lictors teleport in. As do the others. |

Turn 2 Turn 2, I forgot to take the pictue but the far infantry company advanced and took out a Lictor near the Manticores, breaking them. The Stormtroopers retain on a reroll and sustain on the BTS, breaking it. The Biovores hit the HQ and take out three infantry. The Lictors engage the Manticores. Only one hit. The Manticores loose by one. ![]() A infantry company doulbes and lays a BM on the Swarm in the woods. The Dom advances and breaks them, sending them back to wence they came. The Shadowsword attempts to sustain, fails, shoots and misses. The Swarm doubles back to the woods. The Sentinels sustain on the Swarm and take out some brood. A Swarm engages them. After some pooer rolling and good support the bugs are down 4 to 1. The Sentinels pull it off and send the bugs back. A Swarm pulls back out of engage range of the Mech coy. Tbolts straffe the Lictors and lay a BM. DANGER ZONE!!! The other Tbolts take out the broken Lictors. DANGER ZONE!!!! The Deathstrikes advance and try to grab a crossfire but fail to hit. The Sentinels marshal and move. The Mech coy doubles and takes out a bunch of brood and a Warrior. The HQ attempts to marshal, fails and regroups. |

Turn 3 Turn 3 A Swarm doubles on the Mech coy, laying a BM. A Swarm engages but the Guardsmen were out for xenos blood. 7 to 4, IG. The Bugs are wiped out. The Tbolts break the Lictors. DANGER ZONE!!!!! The Biovores take out two Valks. The HQ doubles and lays a BM on the swarm in the woods. The Dom doubles and takes out five guarsmen and breaks the Sentinels. The Swarm engages. Three to two, IG. The IG throw them back. The Shadowsword advance and hits the Dom, does 3 DC. She saves one but one of the hits that got through was a crit so she dies. The Stealers fail to march. Tbolts take out the broken Lictors. DANGER ZONE!!!!!! The BTS fails to march. End of Game End of Game |

holy crap, that was the most thorough nid thrashing I've seen by IG yet! They most have been possessed by some Khornate Berserkers or something, as I've never seen them played so aggressively. Time to pick my jaw up from the floor (to which it was lowered progressively with each action)! |

There were a few times I stopped and thought "this probably isn't the best idea". Keeping the Mech Coy in the Chimera, the infanty coy engaging and then staying out in the open, the Storm Troopers doubling to engage range of the BTS. Nothing came back to bit me but it could have in a bad way. |

ah, poor Matt. Still, at least it shows you how they can be used, although Dave did benefit from a fair bit of luck (now there's a surprise). It was interesting that he used his usual 'nid swarm tactics to overwhelm you with Guard, which kind of makes sense as they're both horde armies. Dave, yeah, my eyebrows did rise a little occasionally, especially the Storm Troopers. Still, it's all in the spirit of a good IG commander - it's not like the lives of those men have any value ![]() |

My original plan was to have them there to support an assault on the BTS with the HQ. When the Lictors came in though I had to save the Mech Coy with the Infantry engagement on the Lictors. Rather than risk leaving the Stormtroopers and HQ intermingled after an assault (as I was already on my retain) I chose instead to sustain with the Stormtroopers. That worked out all right, but the BTS got away. |
