Rules Used Epic Update 2008 NetEA Recommendations NetEA Codex Astartes using Dobbsy's trial notes Customised Eldar Titan Clan Variant, for playtesting (and fun!) purposes. You might wish to think of this as a scenario, but I hope it's useful for playtesting info too. Using Fir Iolarion v2.2 as the basis, we replaced Farsight with Fighting Ghosts: Quote: Fighting Ghosts: Bringing Eldar Titans to battle is notoriously difficult. The skill of the Steersmen is buoyed up by the Seers' psychic precognition, making the Titans able to wrong-foot and out-manoeuvre the enemy with comparative ease. Once per turn, each unbroken Phantom Titan on the table allows the Eldar player to opt to 'ghost' when it is the Eldar player's turn to activate. No initiative test is rolled, and play returns to the next player. This does not count as the Phantom's activation, and the Phantom is free to activate later in the turn as normal. The Phantom may opt to 'ghost' even if it has already activated that game turn. In addition, we reintroduced Wind Rider Hosts and replaced the Wraithlord option with War Walkers, which we think are a more characterful option. Scenario Tournament Scenario: corner deployment. Aye, you'd expect 11+ Marine activations at 3000pts, not 4500pts, normally. |

This might be a good example of how the NetEA rules are used for friendly games in isolation, then – non-tournament composition and with house rulings. As I mention in the opening post, consider it a special scenario if you like; but I hope it's useful for playtesting, even if it isn't ideal. Ultimately, we aren't doing our hobby for a job! ![]() Rug wrote: Looks like those forces would make for quite a big, bloody and fun game though! This is how we like to play! ![]() +++ Turn 1 Imperials win initiative. First blood - Vindicators kill three Rangers Spectre, accompanied by Wind Rider Hosts A and B, plus the War Walkers, double to the east Church. Spectre shoots Tactical 3. With the Eldar on the east committed, Turbulens Albiorix marches along the road to begin to trap the Eldar. The Eldar use Ghost to draw out the Imperials. Tactical 2 marches up the hill to the east part of the hillside town. Tactical 4 and the Assault marines follow Turbulens Albiorix to hem the Eldar in on the East. Autumn Of Our Days destroys three Vindicators. Mercato Stipent fails to damage Autumn Of Our Days. Hymn to Rebirth breaks Tactical 3; they fall back to the hillside stone circle. Turn 2 Imperials win Initiative Shade is broken by the Land Raiders of Sword Squadron. Hymn To Rebirth destroys three Land Raiders of Sword; the survivor falls back to the road. Spectre falls back under attack from Tactical 3 and the Predator squadron. The retreating Spectre is assaulted and destroyed by Chaplain Highheart's assault marines. Wind Rider group A leaps the Eastern Church, and executes the surviving Land Raider of Sword squadron. The Devastators shoot Spear Out Of Aeons; but cause no damage. Captain Aethon orders a redeploy to cut off the escaping Jetbikes. Unfortunately, Tactical 1 fails to cause any casualties! Settling into a threatening pose, Turbulens Albiorix spools up his weaponry and destroys Hymn To Rebirth's holofield generator, along with inflicting crippling damage. The mighty Warlock Titan Hymn To Rebirth is brought to a crashing end by Tactical 4. The End of Turn 2 saw most broken formations rally. |

Turn 3 Imperials win Initiative Hawk and Falcon shoot Tactical 4. Aethon orders Tactical 1 to clear their aim: Wind Rider host A is reduced to two stands and broken. The War Walkers fall back under fire from Tactical 3. Spear Out Of Aeons kills the remaining infantry of Tactical 4. The Land Raiders retreat. The surviving Wind Rider host (B) fails to cause significant damage to the broken Tactical 4. Mercato Stipent stalks into the ruined hillside town and attacks the Rangers, to no avail. The Guardians set overwatch on the East as the broken Titans regroup. Wind Rider host B is broken by the surviving Assault marines, but Highheart is downed. The surviving Vindicator claims the Imperial home objective. Shade doubles around Mercato Stipent and attacks the Devastators. End of Turn 3 (East flank) End of Turn 3 (West flank) |

Result After the smoke had cleared (rallying etc.), the Imperials had achieved Break Their Spirit, but both sides had frustrated each others' attempts to decisively claim sufficient objectives to break the deadlock. Neither side had a clear advantage, and both sides had rallied almost all their broken formations ready to rejoin the fight. Both sides had a number of formations fighting ready; some of which were completely undamaged. With time slipping away, the game was called at this point, and with no clear winner, we went to Victory Points, with the Imperials winning ~2200 to ~1450. |

Cool report! Thank you. I feel that higher points do not automatically have to entail higher activation count. Rather it allows for beefier and more "epic" formations to be fielded. This being outside of the dog-eat-dog tournament scene of course, but why would data from these kinds of games be worthless? |

Always a pleasure ![]() Quote: This being outside of the dog-eat-dog tournament scene of course, but why would data from these kinds of games be worthless? Hopefully it's useful for Dobbsy (and the Codex Astartes list)– but since the ETC list we used had some major changes, I wasn't sure how useful it would be for Angel_of_Caliban. |
