Marines won in the 4th with Take and Hold and Defend the Flag but it was a very close game. It pretty much fell apart for the 'nids in the 4th turn as the Marines broke three formations right at the start. They almost got BTS too, one Rhino survived. Start of Game. Oh, and um... buy Coke! Start of Game Swarm 4 marches up to the buildings. The Whirlwinds start the game off well with 3 hits on the Stealers, they were all saved though. Swarm 3 marches up. The Tacticals double and take a Gargoyle in Swarm 3. Hariot the Harridan doubles and takes out two Land Speeders. The Vindicators double and take out two Gaunts in Swarm 4. Swarm 2 doubles. The SC doubles and knocks the Harridan down a DC. Swarm 1 marches. The Land Speeders ZoC Swarm 3 and 4 and lay a BM on Swarm 3. Dominique the Dominatrix doubles and takes out a SC Rhino. The Land Speeders ZoC Swarm 1 and lay a BM. The Genestealers march to engage the Vindicators next turn. The Predators advance on the Harridan and score 5 hits. It saves all but one, which crits and kills it (double 6!). The Chaplain doubles on Swarm 3 and lay a BM. The Scouts engage Swarm 3. It was a close fight, but the Scouts win it at the cost of two stands and a Rhino. The other scouts advance and lay a BM on Swarm 1. The Bikes double and lay a BM on Swarm 2.

Turn 2 Turn 2 The Lictors teleport behind the SC with 1 BM. The Chaplain engages Swarm 3. No losses but the resolution was close and only 1 guant was hacked down. The SC tries to engage the Lictors, fails with a re-roll and moves out of ZoC. Swarm 1 advances on the SC. The Lictors engage. 3 Marines (one the SC) and 2 Lictors go down. The Marines win it but at the cost of their commander. The Vindicators engage Swarm 4. Some crappy saving left them with 1 tank to fight the bugs again. The last one buys it and the bugs are sitting pretty (I have no idea how I balanced the Warrior like that). Sad Vindicators in the corner... The Genestealers engage the Tacticals. 1 Marine and a Hunter go down. The Marines take down two Stealers. The bugs win it by 1 and the Marines fall back. Swarm 2 retains and sustains on the Bikes, taking out two. The Scouts attempt to double and fail, they regroup. Swarm 4 sustains on the Speeders and takes one out. The Predators sustain on Swarm 1 and hose 3 Haruspex. The Dominatrix advances on the scouts and takes all but one and a Rhino out. They are relegated to the corner of shame. The Whirlwinds sustain and kill a single gaunt... The Speeders sustain and kill a Warrior. The other Speeders attempt to advance and kill the Tyrant, they fail and regroup. The Bikes marshal and remove all BM.

Turn 3. Buy more coke. Turn 3. The Trygon arrives, and I'm back in the fire. Before they die the Whirlwinds attempt to make up for their abysmal rolling last turn. They take out another Warrior and some gaunts. The Predators retain and advance to help out the Tacticals . They take out three Raveners. The Genestealers attempt to engage, fail, reroll, fail and break. The Speeders double Swarm 1 and break it, they ZoC the Dom. The Tacticals sustain on the Raveners and break them with a BM. Swarm 2 sustains on the Chaplain and takes out a Bike. The Dom advances on the Tactifcals and takes out a Rhino. The Speeders try to take out the Tyrant again, they fail to hit even the Gargoyle. Swarm 4 engages the Chaplain. The Bikes pull off 5 hits and loose an Attack Bike. Swarm 4 breaks down to the Warriors. The Chaplain advances on Swarm 2 and lays a BM. Swarm 3 doubles to support Swarm 2. The Scouts ZoC the Dom and lay a BM. The Tacticals Marshall. The Bikes attempt to engage Swarm 2 but die horribly.

Turn 4. My AMTL forces engage the Coke can. Turn 4. The Whirlwinds finally out-due themselves and same my Bacon by breaking the Raveners and Stealers with one barrage. The Land Speeders engage Swarm 2. They get 3 hits! The Swarm breaks. The Dominatrix advances on the SC, and takes out everything but one Rhino which promprly breaks and hides behind a tree. Swarm 4 marches to the Take and Hold. The Land Speeders take out the Tyrant out of cover (we count the hills as cover for INF only). Swarm 1 marches to contest the 'nid blitz. The Predators advance on the Swarm 1 and take out a Warrior. The Tacticals advances and break the Warriors. The Scout grabs the last objective for Defend the Flag. The Scouts string out to grab take and hold.

Maybe they're lighter than air? Dirigibles should work pretty well on a high-gravity world right?

I can't believed you failed an activation Dave, let alone so many! I'm surprised at how resilient the nids were given the pounding they received..
