Just making the one thread to place the army lists involved and quick thoughts on the battle for Steve54 to review for possible future versions if necessary. |

Date: 30/09/2010 The list came up against Dobbsy's Space Wolves (v2.2) and lost 3:1. Space Wolves: Blitz, T&H, BTS Black Legion: T&H Black Legion Black Legion Retinue Black Legion Retinue + Dreadclaws Black Legion Retinue + Dreadclaws Terminator Retinue + Daemon Prince + Obliterator (BTS) Terminator Retinue + Daemon Prince + Warlord Raptor Cult Decimator Death Wheel Death Wheel Hellblade Fighters Devastation Class Cruiser Space Wolves Great Company + Grey Hunters + Long Fangs + Hunter 575 BTS Great Company + Long Fangs + Wolf Lord + Hunter 550 Great Company + Long Fangs 425 Swiftclaws 200 Swiftclaws (Attack Bikes) 200 Whirlwinds + Hunter 375 Fenrisian Wolves 150 Wolf Scouts 225 Thunderbolts 150 Thunderbolts 150 Learnings: I probably teleported the terminators down onto the wrong table edge. I placed them in front of two great companies, and then lost the initiative Space Wolves were then able to shoot and clip the Warlord formation with 6 out of 5 5+MW supporting hits finishing off the formation. The 2nd Terminator formation did get to charge and managed to kill enough units to place on 8 BM, yet was then itself wiped out on the 2nd round of combat. It was hard seeing a formation of Marines running around with 8BM and not yet broken I will get used to it however Other than that, I learned that if you are going up against the Space Wolves, just clip them. They are too numerous to go toe-to-toe with. Either that, or if you can, hit them hard with long ranged weaponry. The only concern with the BL list so far was how easily I lost the Warlord and the BTS formation. Possibly a later teleport, or into a less hostile area is the way to go. |

Teleporting in later runs the risk of the enemy getting to set up on Overwatch. That really hurts teleporting formations aswell... (I've learnt the hard way ![]() I love teleporting Terminators but it really can be a bit of a crap shoot because it'll often come down to the Strategy Roll. Any photos? |

Date: 30/09/2010 Saim-Hann vs Black Legion Saim-Hann won this one quite convincingly I believe - probably 3:1 (will update when I get a followup) Black Legion - Black Legion Ret + Cult Marines + Daemonic Pact + Dreadclaws + Warlord - Black Legion Ret + Cult Marines + Daemonic Pact + Dreadclaws + Daemon Prince - Black Legion Ret + Cult Marines + Daemonic Pact + Obliterator - Devastation Class Cruiser - Decimator - Decimator - Feral Titan - Feral Titan - Terminators x5 + Daemonic Pact - Lesser daemons x9 Saim-Hann - Wind Rider Clan + Farseer + Chieftan - Wind Rider Clan - Wind Rider Clan - Wind Rider Clan - Aspects + Exarch (Warp Spiders) - Sword of Vaul - 3xFalcon 2xFirestorm - Sword of Vaul - 3xFire Prisms 2xFirestorm - Sword of Vaul - 2xFire Prisms 2xFalcon 2xFirestorm - 3x Night Spinners - 3x Night Spinners - Wraithgate - Saim-Hann Guardians - Rangers From seeing the game being packed up at about 11pm and asking how it went, I got the impression that the Black Legion player was thoroughly bent over a barrel with a vision taken out of pulp fiction. The difference being, that when I freed myself from the bonds, I just got the hell outta there ![]() |

Just happy to get playing and until we are back in the swing of things and not looking up rulebooks, it will just be quick reports till about end of October I think. We'll see. As for the Teleport, I am finding that it is going to depend on the opponent. People may see Chaos as an 'in your face' type of army, yet the formation of 4-5 teleporters are anything but that! I had a game today where once again, I went against my better judgement and teleported one on the first turn and the other on the 2nd turn. The first turn ones hit a stompa mob and after 2 rounds were broken and lost the combat. They were summarily executed later that turn. The 2nd turn ones did not get an action (lost the initiative), and were broken down to the Fearless Daemon Prince - who survived I am happy to say. The 3rd turn drop however worked really well and if I had held the Terminators off until 3rd turn, I would have certainly drawn the game, or even had a chance at a win. I was speaking with Morgan after the game and he believes that it is dependant on the army. If you have IG for instance, a first turn teleport/Drop with the use of commander may just be the thing to kill the game from turn 1. Other armies such as Marines or Landa Ork Armies require a 3rd turn appearance. As long as the Death Wheels, Ferals, Decimators, Retinues, aircraft, etc. are providing enough annoyance to really impede the enemy. Going to post the other game up now. |

Date: 01/10/2010 Black Legion vs Orks Orks win 3:2 Orks: BTS, T&H, Blitz Black Legion: BTS, T&H Black Legion Black Legion Retinue Black Legion Retinue + Dreadclaws Black Legion Retinue + Dreadclaws Terminator Retinue + Daemon Prince + Obliterator (BTS) Terminator Retinue + Daemon Prince + Warlord Raptor Cult Decimator Death Wheel Death Wheel Hellblade Fighters Devastation Class Cruiser Orks - Blitz Brigade w Oddboyz - Blitz Brigade w Oddboy - Blitz Brigade w Oddboy - Kult of Speed (4Skorchers, 4Buggiess) - Kult of Speed (4Skorchers, 4Buggiess) - Warband w 2Boyz/Grotz - Warband w 2Boyz/Grotz - Warband w 2Boyz/Grotz - Landa - Landa - Landa - FightaBommas x4 - Big Stompa + 2 Killa Kans. Once again, the early teleports cost me in this game. I cannot really fault any of the other decisions I made and I thank Morgan for reminding me about cross-fire. With this force, it is imperative that the Black Legion gets his teleports right, and decides whether a teleport and assault is not as effective as a teleport, double and fire with a Death Wheel (to gain a cross fire bonus), and then an assault by the terminators, is not the better way to go. What this battle showed me is that it is not the force I have to change, but rather the tactics that I use to get the best out of the forces that I have. Seeing I was able to obtain 2 points and had a very slim chance of obtaining a draw (even with ineffective Terminators for the entire game), I am getting better with this force and am itching for my next game. As Goldberg used to advertise: Who's Next? ![]() |

At ITB I used this (using the EpicUK list which is the same bar the old hatred rule+the aircraft) All Nurgle Retinue+Pact+Warlord+Obliterator Retinue+Pact+Obliterator Death Wheel Death Wheel Hellblades Hellblades Terminators+Pact+Obliterator Chosen+Pact+Rhinos Raptors+2 Raptors+Pact Raptors+ Raptor+Pact 8 lesser daemons - won 4-0 v EUK codex marines - Drew vs Black Legion 1-1 - Lost 0-2 v EUK codex marines - Lost 0-3 v EUK EC - Drew vs EUK IG 1-1 I had some very bad dice, and made some critical mistakes against the EC, but I wouldn't use this list again - not enough ground units and not enough punch from the DW. |

Forums > EA Chaos > NET EA BLACK LEGION+LATD The 2nd link is the updated version. Otherwise the rest of the lists are under that EA Chaos heading Hope this helps Cheers.... ![]() |
