The Manticores are destroyed along with one Marine.
The Basilisks destroy a Whirlwind and a Hunter.

Another playtest from last night. Me with the Raven Guard and captPiett with a tank heavy Steel Legion list. I setup the terrain this time and Matt choose the side with the most buildings deployment. He garrisoned nothing this time around as I was dropping turn 2. The Whirlwinds marshall.  The Storm Troopers attempt to march but fail and advance.  The Predators marchs to the right flank.  The Rough Riders attempt to march and fail. They advance.  The HQ marches towards the Predators.

The Leman Russ fall in behind the HQ.  The Shadowswords vaporize the Assault Marines.  The Thunderbolts straffe the Thunderhawk, one is lost on the approach.

Turn 2 Strategy: Raven Guard Start of Turn 2  The orbital bombardment only hits a single Sentinel. They break.  The Suprme Commander lands next to the Russ and HQ, laying BMs and taking out an Infantry stand.  The second tactical land and place a BM on the Shadowswords.  The Terminators reroll their scatter and end up close to the Blitz.  |

The Landspeeders come down right in front of the Shadowswords.  The Predators advance on the HQ's Chimera, the second Speeder unit landed near the IG's table edge.  The Shadowswords advance on the Terminators, taking two out.  The Storm Troopers engage the Land Speeders and break them.  The Supreme Commander egages the Russ.

After two rounds a single Marine wins but breaks, 4 Russ and a Hydra go down.  The Whirlwinds sustain on the Rough Riders and break them, killing the Commissar.  The Basilisks sustain on the Tacticals and take out a stand.  The Thunderhawk straffes the HQ, taking out two infantry and a Chimera.  The Land Speeders advance on the Shadowswords after being straffed by the Thunderbolt.

The HQ marshalls, kills the last Marine from the Russ assault and removes 5 BM.  The Tacticals advance on the Shadowswords.  The Terminators engage the Shadowswords.  The Shadowswords break and fall back.

Turn 3 Strategy: Raven Guard Start of Turn 3  The Terminators engage the Shadowswords, one goes down with two crits which in turn destroys another.  The Predators sustain on the HQ, destroying all but one Chimera.  The Basilisks Sustain on the Land Speeders and destroy one.  The Thunderhawk fails to activate.

The Rough Riders engage the Terminators.  The Rough Riders are destroyed, along with one Terminator. The Chaplain breaks.  The Whirlwinds sustain on the HQ and lay a BM.  The Storm Troopers double on the Terminators and destroy them and break the Tacticals with the extra templates.  Land Speeder two marshalls.

The Thunderbolt (nick named Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen) breaks Land Speeders two.  The HQ lays a BM on the Predators.  The Leman Russ double on the Predators and take out two.

Turn 4 Strategy: Imperial Guard Start of Turn 4  The Leman Russ sustain on the Predators, destroying them.  The Whirlwind sustain on the HQ, destoring 3 Infantry.  The Shadowswords sustains on the Tacticals, vaporizes one and breaks them.  The Storm Troopers double on the Landspeeders and break them.

The Baron finishes on the sole remaining Land Speeder.  The Thunderhawk attempts to keep the Storm Troopers from claiming Defend the Flag but fails.

Looks like it was a fun game. I thought the IG were done for but it looks like they battled back. I'm a bit curious as to why the IG didn't garrison and/or put more formations on overwatch in Turn 1. Russ on OW would be virtually guaranteed to crush a drop pod formation that landed anywhere close. One thing in turn 1: Quote: The Thunderhawk straffes and breaks the Sentinels. The Assault Marines retain and engage the Manticores. When the Assault Marines are loaded, they are one formation with the Thawk. They take the same action. Only after the action is complete do they break up into separate formations. They don't get to unload and activate separately because they already acted with the Thawk. |

I looked for that rule yesterday but couldn't fine it in the Aerospace section, I found it today in the WE section. |
