Turn 1 Marines win Initiative - Devastators sustain vs World Eater Terminators (5 hits) killing 1 - Tactical retain & fail activation. Elect to shoot Terminators breaking the unit - World Eater Berserkers3 march into left hand side crater - Thunderbolts go on CAP - Chosen1 March to forward crater - Warhounds advance into craters & shoot World Eater Terminators – no damage - World Eater Bikes March towards Tactical squad - Thunderhawk GA Terminators killing 1 - Chosen3 Double to right hand side craters - Marine bikes Double up right hand side table - Helltalons GA Marine bikes. Turn 2 Teleports: Space Marine Terminators teleport next to World Eater Terminators World Eaters win Initiative - World Eater Terminators summon 2 Daemons & Charge Marine Terminators. Both units wipe each other out. - World Eater Berserkers1 retain and Fail. They gain BM and charge Devastators and intermingle Whirlwinds. Marines are broken and double back towards own Blitz. - Tactical unit double back and shoot Berserkers2. No kills - World Eater Chosen3 Charge Whirlwinds and wipe them out. - Thunderbolts fail their activation and stand down - Berserkers3 go on Overwatch - Marauder Bombers GA World Eater Chosen2 for no kills - Marine bikes Charge World Eater Chosen2 in a clipping assault killing 2 and breaking them (1 extra dead due to combat resolution). - World Eater Chosen1 remain on Overwatch - Thunderhawk GA/Charge Berserkers2 killing 3 Berserkers and 2 extra on combat resolution. After Game Thoughts - World Eater player was too eager in using the Terminators. If they had not teleported in the first turn, the Dreadclaws would have landed on 2-3 squads of Advancing Marines and the outcome of the battle could have been very different from Turn 1. The World Eater list is a finesse army and every unit needs to be used to it’s full effectiveness. The above example is one example of this. We found that the ‘Stubborn’ rule is nowhere near a replacement for Fearless, yet the extra CC attacks in BtB are a good change. A few more games will determine whether the points are right for each of the units. My personal preference is that Berserkers and Bike units are reduced by another 15 points. Terminators appear perfectly balanced so far, however this battle was not a good representation of that. World Eater Chosen need some serious consideration for improvements as the 4 per unit is quite limiting with the substitution of Fearless with Stubborn. |

The Fearless rule proposed for the World Eaters, is that instead of a hold action (move, shoot or remove BM), you can only either Shoot or Charge. This effectively means that they have trouble removing BM, yet they are more likley to charge at the enemy no matter what. It is the player's choice however. Most times, if you are not within a charge range to get into BtB, it still allows them to effect a single move (charge) to get into some type of cover. We thought it was a fitting change to represent the Blood Rage of the World Eaters. |
