World Eaters 1.1 vs Marines

There were tactical errors made throughout the game as well as a misinterpretation of the rules. That is what you get when you play Bloodbowl for weeks at a time and no Epic. I will not go into them as I am not wanting to invite discussion on tactical errors. We realised and talked about it at the end of the battle, so we are happy with that.

What was highlighted was the Blood Lord and daemon prince that will need some discussion on. Anyway, onto the battle report:

Playtest changes to World Eater 1.1 rules:

Supreme Commander
a. Buy the Warlord +50 points
b. Upgrade Warlord to daemon prince +25 points
Leader, Invulnerable Save, Commander, Fearless, Reinforced Armour, Teleport, Supreme Commander

Bloodlord is available to every retinue as a free choice (not just terminators)

Doomfist of the Banelord includes: or (base contact) Assault weapon Extra Attacks (+2), TitanKiller (D3)
Havoc Missile Rack, Hellstrike Cannon and Doomfist have Forward Arc, the Battlehead has Fixed Forward Arc.

Turn 1

Marine Player wins initiative
Elects for World Eater player to go first

- Banelord doubles to hide behind a building
- Tactical A doubles to move into city block cover in middle of table
- World Eater retinue 2 doubles to hide on side of Banelord and remain in Rhinos
- Tactical B marches into city block at back end of table
- World Eater retinue 1 marches to edge along city block and stay in their vehicles
- Thunderbolts streak over the juggernauts casing 2 deaths and 3 BM (dammit!)
- Juggers marshal – Marshal move up left of Banelord and remove all BM
- Predators double and shoot at Banelord downing 1 void shield
- Brass Scorpions march into city block taking a wound due to failed walker test
- Vindicators double forward
- Lord of Battles doubles forward to hide behind buildings and Banelord
- Landspeeder unit 1 Marches forward right side of table
- Landspeeder unit 2 Marches forward right side of table
- Landspeeder unit 3 Marches forward near the warlord
- Warlord shoots at WE retinue 1 – no hits

Terminators teleport into city block next to Tactical Unit A – no BM

World Eaters wins the initiative

- Banelord advances & shoots predators. 1BM & 1 dead land Speeder (unit3) on blast  
- WE Terminators engage Tac UnitA. 2 die and Tac Unit A wiped out. Termis broken
- Predators sustain against Banelord and wipe 6 void shields
- Land Speeder unit 3 fails activation. 1BM and removes 2 leaving 2BM left.
- Brass Scorpions charge predators. Wipe out dreads for 1 wound on other scorpion.
- Lord of battle retains & shoots landspeeder unit 3, kills 2 and 3 BM. (5BM total)
- Thunderbolts get conflicting orders and stand down to confirm orders
- Juggers march forward into city block previously occupied by Brass Scorpions
- Vindicators advance and shoot at Brass Scorpions – 1 dead and unit broken
- World Eater retinue 1 doubles into City Block with Juggers.
- Landspeeder unit 1 advances on Warlord causing 2 wounds
- WE retinue 2 charges LS unit1. 4 dead total and LS unit 1 doubles away broken
- Tactical unit B goes on overwatch
- Titan Advances on Lord of Battles causing 3 wounds

End of turn
- Brass Scorpions fail to rally – then fail dangerous terrain test and die.
- All other units rally

Start of the battle turn 3



Turn 3

Marines win initiative

- Land Speeders 3 advance & shoot WE retinue 1 – Kill 1 rhino
- Vindicators retain and sustain WE retinue 1 – Kill 2 rhino
- Lord of Battles Advances to shoot at LS 1 formation. No deaths
- Banelord retains to advance and shoot at LS 1 (?) to break them
-  Warlord sustains on the Banelord and destroys it
- Juggers engage and wipe out vindicators
- Thunderbolts ground attack juggers for zero damage
- WE retinue 2 march to get within 30cm of broken Speeder units
- Tactical Unit B double to shoot at Terminators. No damage yet they break them

This went onto turn 4 and no-one able to get beyond the 1 point each.

Opponent and scribe did not see anything in the army that was broken or ‘wrong’ other than the following:

Bloodlord: Free Bloodlord who appears to be too good as a free option. He gets better abilities than a commander for free.

Daemon Prince : Under the game played, this was 75 points (50 points for a Warlord and +25 for the daemon prince upgrade). Effectively the Bloodlord goes from

MW EA +2

to

MW EA +3 TK(1)

What points value shall we place on this upgrade?

Juggernauts: My own question here. Should these as a berserker unit also have or have the ability to gain a character model?

Note, turn 4 the juggers assaulted the banelord with the Lord of Battles in support. They stripped all shields and caused 2 wounds. Not bad.

It went onto another round (as it was a draw). The Warlord wiped out all Juggers and thereby prevented the Lord of Battles from supporting. That was the best chance I had (bar bad decisions and hindsight) from taking out that Warlord. Bugger!
