Still testing "EPIC: Total War" scenarios! Played this one last week and forgot to post it! Marines vs Orks in a "Spearhead" breakthrough scenario! |

Battlefield: 4x6 Roll off and Marines chose to be attacker. Deployment: Orks place the Kult of Speed and the two Blitz Brigades in their vanguard. Marines place both Scout Detachments in their Vaguard. Orks place their Point of Approach objective near the road. (This will speed up reinforcements by giving them +5cm if they enter on the road!) Marines place the other objective. Orks garrison the Gunzmob on overwatch with the Warband backing them up in one deployment zone and place the Stormboyz in the other deployment zone, also on overwatch. The Marine vanguard is deployed well to the front of their spearhead. All remaining formations will enter as reinforcements... with the Orks being delayed one turn! |

Turn 1 No teleports. Four Thunderhawks and two squadrons of Thunderbolts appear on the horizon. ![]() (Reinforcements are placed on the appropriate table edge the turn they are coming in, though they are not actually “on the table†|

Turn 2 No teleports. Ork reinforcements start showing up: the Fighta-Bommerz and Kult of Speed because they are very fast… and the two Blitz Brigades, cuz the road makes them very fast! The two Whirlwind Detachments also show up… and the Warlord Titan uses the little extra “oomph†|

Turn 3 No teleports. The two Stompamobz and the Gargant use the road to make an appearance. ![]() (Since they’re all using the road to get on the board, they’re lined up as shown to indicate this. The first move of each formation will still be measured as starting from the table’s edge, as the models aren’t actually “there†|

Turn 4 No teleports. No reinforcements. (And camera batteries dies… plugged them into the charger as well played.) Strategy Roll: Orks… on a tie! Stompamob 2 needs to hear from the Warlord to get them to only advance and fire on Whirlwinds 2… wiping out the Marine rocket tanks! The Gargant makes a lateral double to fire on Bike Detachment 1… 2 Bikes are flattened and the survivors break and head off. The Warlord then sustains fire on Stompmob 2, targeting war engines and destroys the Supa-Stompa. The Kult of Speed doubles after Bikes 1, but does no damage. Thunderhawk 1 attempts a clipping ground assault on the broken Gunzmob… they do take out the Big Gun they targeted, but something hits a fuel cell and the Thunderhawk explodes… to the cheers and jeers of the remaining guncrewz! The Fighta-Bommerz ground attack Whirlwinds 1, taking them out! T-Hawk 3 ground attacks the Kult of Speed and breaks them. Seeing his chance, the Warlord and his Warband march in an attempt to “seal the breach†|

I liked it, seemed to pose some interesting tactical choices. It would help to have a brief summary of the scenario at the start of the battle report - I have to go back, find the sticky, download the pdf and read it before I'm a 100% clear on what constitutes the scenario specific objectives. |
