Hi! I've got another game in and made quite alot pictures instead of writing anything down. I am not sure if that will work out, but I post it anyways. Could get a bit sketchy from time to time but I thought about trying this approach. Wasnt in the mood of writing stuff down. This might also get a bit Tau centered especially considering that I didnt write the Eldar list down. But maybe Iamsalvation is kind enough to post it here... Ã‚Â Rules used: Handbook 2008 Tau v5.1 Official Biel-Tan list NETErc thingy... Tau List: Crisis BS + 2 Crisis + Supreme Commander AMHC Railgun + Leader AMHC Ion Cannon 2x Barracuda Squads Broadsides Firewarrior + Pathfinder Upgrade and 5 Devilfish Firewarrior + Pathfinder Upgrade + Orca Stealth Suits And I am happy to present our new Cityfight Terrain, not yet finished and mostly done by Iamsalvation.

As you can see, the Eldar deployed mostly in the right upper corner from my view, holding back on his Titans for as long as possible. His one Ranger squad in garrisson around one of my objectives, while the eldar blitz objective (or is it mine as I want to get there? ^^) right in the corner with his units already defended by some guardians. Some rangers near his wraith gate in garrison, while I deployed my FW in the city and my HHR right in the middle of the plate. Broadsides in the city as far as possible. My problem was his two artillery formations, even considering they are not as awful as Imperial Guard in that regard. By the way he placed one formation on each side. First round. Eldar won the initiative. Fearing my two Barracuda Formations (beeing the biggest killers as they are... Ã‚Â ) he send out his Flying transport (I think its a vampire... not sure ^^) including an Aspect Warhost with Supreme Commander to Air Assault my Firewarrior in the city. Well, not very suprising breaking my FW. There my remaining stuff moved onto that hill. And he moved abit further back into the city to get some cover. Then I started with some retaliation sending my AMHC with Ions against the Aspect Warhost that broke my FW inflicting some kills and increasing the BM amount. Next he moved his Titans and one Artillery Formation along my right edge behind the high and unpassable terrain feature.

Since he moved his titans with that 45 cm AA attack away I send in my uber killers, respectively one formation of Barracudas against his Falcons killing nothing and only planting one BM. I think, next he moved his Guardian formation out of his wraith gate into the city. I therefore moved my Crisis Formation to hopefully kill off the Aspect Warhost which went not that bad since only his supreme commander remained standing, but obviously broken. I also did send my other Barracuda formation in against the artillary formation some time earlier, which is why the two remaining are sitting broken at the left side of the table. He was stalling a bit considering to use his falcons effectively and not want to endure the retaliation by my AMHC Rail. Therefore activating one Ranger and Guardian formation at his blitz only to go on overwatch. Not having a better target I send my Broadsides to finish of the aircraft sitting inside the city. And as you can see, its not there anymore on the picture... Next his Jet bikes came from the wraith guard to get into position threatening my crisis (also being BTS). Stalling myself and also not seeing a viable target for my FW inside my orca I just attacked the broken supreme commander to kill him off.

Since he did not see a viable target for his falcons as well he just put them on overwatch. My next move was to advance and try to kill some of the jet bikes with my railgun AMHC, not beeing very effective. He then doubled his swooping hawks out from the wraith gate building up some pressure for my crisis as well. This pretty much concluded the first turn. I couldn't rally my broken formation on the hill, while he rallied the artillery formation to my dismay...

Happily I won the strategy roll, having quite some necessary options to go after... it wasn't very easy what I should do. I therefore decided to send my AMHC Ion out to protect my Crisis a bit by shooting on the swooping hawks diminishing there efficiency in assaulting later on. It think I then tried to retain the initiative to get my HHR in but even failing to get them to do something using my supreme commander... 1 and 2 on the roll... He then send in his guardian squad with only 4 stands or so in range against my AMHC Ion. I didn't counter charge since I was sure to lose anyway and took this one loss to move away afterwards broken, but still with 5 tanks. The next picture shows my Crisis formation broken, due to the artillery formation on the left, that rallied but had only one tank to shoot since the other was suppressed... I hate disrupt BP... But I have to admit my Crisis were standing a bit cramped there, which is going to be awful later as well... The next picture shows some more actions by both of us. He marched his titans toward me, the artillery formation doubled and shot at my broken FW on the hill. One Barracuda formation the broke the artillery formation. The other stood down this turn having one BM from not leaving the table on my side (deliberately not wanting to fly into AA range from the titans in the first turn.) And the eldar moved his falcons nearer to my cramped army. This happens quite alot it seems to me. I nearly always have to give up one side of the table and have to move my units nearer together. And I dont have the feeling, that I can go more on the offensive since I am mostly pretty sure that I am not going to inflict enough damage. I am not sure actually. I guess I have to risk it next time and see how I fare.

Next my broadsides tried to inflict some damage on the titans. And this was my roll for this try... keep in mind that I was rolling for 2+ sigh My rolls weren't as bad the whole time but not superb as well. My opponent was rolling quite good, especially on initiative and rallying units. Another funny thing was that I moved my units quite often in a fashion, that he was one cm short of being able to do somehing effective. But I have to admit that this was not planned on my part... Anyway, the end of this turn was marked by my orca landing and dispersing the FW and PF on the guardian formation sitting on the blitz. As you can see, the orca is not on the picture anymore... his one stupid grav platform in overwatch managed to hit my orca. My armor save was a very low roll and then I had to roll for the critical effect... and obviously I managed to roll the six... sigh At least I could break the guardian formation. End of the 2nd turn. He rallied everything. I at least managed to rally my AMHC Ion, but not my crisis (2 rolled) and the remains of my FW on the hill.

The eldar summoned the avatar near the blitz. My stealth suits landed there as well to foster the illusion of having a chance of getting the blitz... I actually won the strategy roll again. Stealth suits engaged the Avatar. I would have preffered to shoot at it, but we assumed that its not possible to shoot at it with AP weapons just to get the disrupt ability in... Anyway since I was so stupid to land to near to it he could countercharge into CC and killed enough. I notched off 2 DC from him in my first strikes, not beeing enough and then botched the resolution roll... 1 and 2 on the roll... sigh Due to hackdown the formation was destroyed... As for the rest you have to wait til later. I now want to grab some lunch at get back to work. o/

Okay, well, it doesn't matter as much who rolled for the critical, since in my last game my opponent rolled for it and it happened. But I keep that in mind who has to roll. As for the counter charge range: If its 5 cm I should be able to get exactly as near to get counter charged. Since it can then move its 5 cm. Or am I supposed to be 6 cm away? With 5 cm I would stand at the edge of the CZ, at least thats what I thought. But even without those rules aspects it was quite stupid to get that near...

Okay, here comes the rest of the third turn. The eldar decided those FW near the blitz should not be allowed to stay there. The Avatar attacked first but having only one DC left lost the fight not killing very much. (Forgot to take it from the table on that picture... ^^) He than brought his Jet Bikes in (that were moved earlier to the right side of the table from my view). Also his falcons moved back to sufficiently surround my FW not allowing them to get away even if the might survive the hackdown later. My AMHC with Railguns then killed off the artillery on the left side. Another mistake I did, not to move them inside of his half. The Broadsides moved a little bit in front of my crisis formation to screen them against the titans. They also managed to chip away 2 DC from the Revenants, 1 of each. Enough BM to suppress one of them. He then doubled his Titans back to finish of my FW near the Blitz. Afterwards I flew in with both Barracuda formation for some possibly lucky shots that might have killed the Titans. But to no avail obviously. But I admit it was out of desperation and without much hope.

And here comes my last picture, that shows my AMHC Ion managed to break the swooping hawks and therefore survived. Yay... Ã‚Â But the best thing about that was to deny him also to get the blitz objective. But still, it was a painful defeat... Tau 0 - 4 Eldar (BTS, Tsnp, TnH, DtF) In the beginning it seemed not be as bad for me. Actually my opponent told me quite often that he thought it was going not so well for him and he lived in fear... Ã‚Â The best moment of the game was when he said: "I hate to play against people, who know how the game is played!" Obviously with a smirk but still a nice compliment, I guess, in our hobby (not regarding the rules for 100%, but since we both still make mistakes in that regard it doesn't matter as much). Therefore, even if it might look like that, I didn't let him get away that easily. Anyway, I still have the feeling that I am getting pushed into one corner of the table all the time. (The game against Tyranids was different of course, but that went good for me obviously). It definitely was the case last time against Imperial Guard (no BatRep, cause the game wasnt really finished.) Okay, I hope this BatRep was fun to read, I got some nice pictures to look at and that it wasnt too confusing considering the more or less sloppy, or better, not existing notes. Really nice report and I love the cityscape! One query. In the first turn a lot of stuff seemed to come out of gates. How many gates did the eldar play have? Each gate can only be used once each turn. So if you only have the gate that replaces an objective (so no storm serpents) only one formation a turn can enter via the webway.

ouche, forgot about that.. realy... it was 3 Formations comming out there i think.. (Guardians, Hawks, JetBikes) Sorry about that... (i was the Eldar Player)
