Well, some of the local players have been clamouring at a chance to play "something different" with EPIC, so we've started to test the basics of some of the scenarios I'm putting together for "EPIC: Total War" supplement.

Now, one of the objectives of the supplement is that two people can come to a game with 3000 point armies and then decide to play something other than the "Tournament Scenario" without having to change their army lists.  So, my opponent didn't know we'd be trying "something different" when he made his list.

Not sure I'll get it all posted right away, but you know how I like to tease!   :vD

This is the same opponent who deployed the "Thunderbike" army.

He likes a narrow focus... and as many 1+ iniative formations as he can muster!  *laugh*

Battlefield:

4x6; Orks win strategy roll.

Both sides put their Point of Approach close to roads.


Deployment:

Only aircraft are in reserve.

Orks put both Kults of Speed and the Stormboyz in their vanguard.

Dark Eldar put Syndicates 6 through 10 in theirs.

Turn 1

No teleports.

Strategy Roll: Orks… who pass to Dark Eldar.

Syndicate 1 marches down the road and takes cover in the ruins near Ork Objective 2.

Seeing how zippy the enemy appears to be, the Gunzmob doubles into the nearby forest and unloads some pain on Syndicate 1… a single Raider is slapped from the sky.

Syndicate 2 marches to secure Dark Eldar Objective 1, staying out of line of sight.

The Warband doubles towards them, taking cover in the closer forest.

Syndicate 3 marches to land on Ork Objective 1.

Turn 2

No teleports.

Strategy Roll: A tie… which goes to Dark Eldar!

Syndicate 10 advances to fire on Blitz Brigade 2… and takes out a Gunwagon.

Syndicate 7 follows up by engaging Blitz 2.  They lose 2 Warriors and 1 Raider, but wipe out the Orky tanks.



The Gunzmob then sustains fire on Syndicate 1 and is able to catch both Syndicate 4 and 5 in the blasts as well.  A single Raider survives from Syndicate 1, Syndicate 4 loses 2 Warriors and Syndicate 5 loses a Raider.

Seeing how much fun the Big Gunz are having, the Stompamob tries to sustain fire… can’t get a good lock and fumbles about listening to the Warboss… which *still* doesn’t help… so they just fire normally and Syndicates 4 and 5.  The first target loses 4 Warriors and breaks while the other loses 2 Raiders… and breaks.



The Tormentor strides forward to engage the small Kult of Speed, with lots of nearby support… loses all three Shadowfields while wiping out the Orks.  The Dark Eldar Titan repositions into cover.



The Stormboyz jump forward to engage Syndicate 9.  The lose 4 Stormboyz, but wipe out the Dark Eldar before their friends can support.  WAAAGH!!!



Blitz Brigade 2 doubles, swerving around the enemy to come face to face with the Archon’s Coterie… and take out 1 Raider and 1 Incubi unit!

The Coterie has to do a double take before they engage Blitz Brigade 2… the lose a Raider destroying the two Soopagunwagonz… and then proceed to win by “1â€Â

Well, that was definitely a good time and a close match!

You'll notice that the Dark Eldar got "Blitz" in there, because we hadn't yet decided on "alternate" victory conditions as the time of play, and, while we had discussed them, it was time for the LOST season finale, so we didn't continue... *laugh*

The alternate setup and, now, alternate victory conditions make for some cool differences, but it's still a fun game of EPIC!

wow, brutal game, thanks! I'm surprised the Dark Eldar survived so well and won, given the beating they received. Do you think your opponent will bring so many small formations next time?

What was behind the Point of Approach? What were the details behind the scenario? Sounds interesting...

Thanks for the report, it looks like it was a fun game. Your opponent appears to have a style alot like mine. Find something that might work and do it to excess.

My opponent tends to like to "overwhelm with small"... so, yeah, he probably would... might mix a few characters in there for Blast marker management... or a Ravager Flotilla for more shooting.

What was behind the Point of Approach? What were the details behind the scenario? Sounds interesting...
