I won´t do a proper BatRep as I took neither notes nor pictures, but since the lists are available and memories of yesterdays bash are still fresh.

BL won 2-0 after three turns getting Defend the Flag and They shall not pass in the most defensive game I´ve yet played with BL, basically sitting on my objectives covering forefield with multiple Overwatches and the Banelords screened by the infantry. Terminators and dreadclawed troops created enough of a diversion in the Eldar backyard to prevent a breakthrough, also killing the Seer Council early in the game which helped Chaos greatly.

Game was played on a 6x4 table, Eldar choosing corner deployment and regretting this later.

Lists (not fully legal, 1/3 restriction and core formations):

Too bad there were no pics. Would have been cool to see all of those titans on the field.

That was a very large game.  Any thoughts on the Ulthwe list in a game that large?

5000 points is a perfectly reasonable game size. I have to paint up more Eldar infantry though, especially Rangers and Aspects, and also add a 4th Guardian Warhost.

The Ulthwé-part of the list got maimed pretty early, the Seer Council and Black Guardians being hit first thing in the game by the dreadclawing BL Retinue.

Despite the superior SR, Chaos won initiative in Turns 1 and 2, and was able to make the most of it by advancing on the objectives and entrenching there, spanning ZoCs across the board and preventing Windriders et al. from getting behind the lines. The Eldar fought furiously to break through (and out) of the Wraithgate area, but were repulsed time and again. The Warlock broke in turn 1 after advancing there, unscratched and from weight of fire alone, stayed put, rallied in T3 only to be broken again, and thus failed to secure a breach.

Chaos lost the Vindicators, the dropped Retinue, one of the Havoc retinues and a lot of daemons as well as 2 DC from one of the Banelords, while the Eldar were left without the Black Guardians, another Guardian formation, 80% of all windriders, suffered 1 DC to the Warlock and both EoVs, as well as one Falcon-SwoV wiped out.

What really struck me was the defensive stance my BL was able to take: With the Banelords having doubled or marched once, they were in range of the critical objectives area, and could fire far beyond with the Havoc Racks, allowing my infantry to get into ideal, overlapping overwatch positions in the critical terrain. As I wrote above, Eldar quickly regretted corner deployment as they had to advance through a stretch of rather open ground to approach these positions, and suffered accordingly.
