Great game!  Though I am a xenos-loving heretic, I'm always secretly pleased when Marines actually win!  *laugh*

Thanks for the report, Hena!

Excellent report and analyis.

It looks like I will be able to field my new SM army next week and try out the changes you used.

Your army also looks very nice on the table.

Thanx for sharing.

The extra tank upgrades are in the realm of changing the list rather than the tweaking to get the power right - I think they should wait for a varient list (salamanders?) with a tech fixation. A marine armour list as it were. Of course I have one sitting on my hard drive :)

I've played a couple of games and seen marines in action a fair bit since coming back and I do worry the ignore outnumbering is a bit much - haven't tried or seen the half bp thing though. Is that round up or down?

Guess I'll have to play a few more games with the suggested changes to get a better feel.

Oh - and I do reckon the scouts, terminators and landing craft should all go up as they are undercosted (very evident if you min max your marines) which i think would have wiped out any gains in your list points wise!

The half-BP bit was my suggestion, round down. So 1 BP counts as 0. 3 counts as 1. Etc. I suggested it when we were discussing the 'Marines rally with 1/2 unit number in BMs' bit as an alternative. It means that Marines who are, say, 3 strong with a Leader, who rally back with the Leaders=2 bit, will come back with 1 BM. But count as 0 in assaults. The idea being that since they seem to halve the effects of blast-markers everywhere else, why not in assaults too? It seems fitting, if 4 Marines takes 8 blast markers to break, then they shouldn't seriously be more impeded by having 7 blast markers then any normal 4 man unit would be from 3 blast markers, should they? It also means a 4 man unit who's broken only counts as having 4 BMs, not 8 BMs, in assaults. Dunno if it makes them too good or not. But it 'feels' right to me, and seems like it'd make rallying back from broken as well as rallying in general more balanced for them compared to other armies with small numbers.
