Ork kommander here. Thanks Hena for the battle report, they are always enjoyable.
Of the battle: it was closer than I expected it originally to be - this of course highlights the crucial bad or good rolls (Marine initiative turn 2, Terminator chaplain invulnerability save, KoS activation turn 4...), but in overall this game left much better after taste than my previous one (plain orks vs ATML, on which all the 'oddities' of Epic:A were blatantly used by my opponent).
Of Epic:A vs. E40k: better in most ways. Very good indeed, although there is some gripes:
- hit allocation (mainly things like 'hm, 4 normal hits and 3 MW to 2 Stompas and a grot? Well, 3 MWs to grot and normal hits divided to stompas'.. I would most probably go to 'you must divide all hits of the same type first' or force order of AP, AT, MW, TK or something..)
- barrages. The table (jump between 3 and 4) and hit allocation/snapshotting. At least add that if there is same number of targets available in multiple places, must choose the closest in formation
Then there is list of smaller gripes and issues concerning mechanized infantry, air assaults, route blocking with routed formations.. but most things are something just to live with.
Anyway, going to play hopefully much more of Epic:A. I just did some new blast markers Yesterday..
