I will be having a rematch against fluffy tomorrow. this time he will be taking the titans and I will be using the steel legion.

He has decided to take the same list that I used against him, nd i am using a variant of the list he used against me.

Interesting indeed.

Remember to deploy the deathstrikes behind some cover 121+cms away from the rocket lord and make sure those pesky hounds can't double-wipe them. Russes can strip 5 shields within ~90cms with advance and baneblades can strip them from a hound. Followed by some TKs and some moves from the expendable infantry and I'd be surprised if you don't win 3-0 or 4-0 at the end of turn 3. Wiping them all might be too hard but hounds and one lord should be doable. The plasma lord might kill a shadowsword or couple russes after a double but other than that it's useless. Rocket lord can do few blasts but it's kinda pointless to shoot the expendable infantry formations and everything else has 4+RA (I'm assuming you will deploy the Reg. HQ outside of the rocket range and use it to snatch objectives on the tit side). Ordinatus probably won't do anything in the game unless it marches, or you do something really funny, and it can just be ignored until turn 2 or 3. If you don't totally mess the deployment you can place all the important units out of range of the tits by placing infantry and baneblades first and then you can outmaneuver them while taking minimal casualties.

I dunno, it might be fun but I'd probably use the time to try some other army composition instead of trying to see if the string of twelve 1's happens this time that could possibly make a difference..

The plasma lord might kill a shadowsword or couple russes after a double but other than that it's useless.

Under favourable circumstances, the Plasmalord might just nuke a whole Tank Company.

I am hoping that it wont wipe the floor with my tank company. ?the problem is, it is their job to strip its shields and to stay alive by hiding from it.

Maybe if it could teleport. Now its power in the entire game is 8 x MW3+, or 2.68 damage through 4+RA and it can only do it against baneblades that happens to be one of the expendable formations if the deployment isn't totally messed. The plasma lord is the obvious target for concentrated TK fire if it ever comes within 90cms of the guards. If it doesn't come then just nuke the hounds, keep the IG side clean and move the HQ on the tit side and you win 2-0. I'm quite confident that 3 swords, 2 deathstrikes and a russ company can take care of 6 shields and 8 DC. And how do I get everything in range? All the stuff can go sit intermingled at the 121cm line from the rocket lord while still keeping all swords over 106cms from the plasma lord. The plasma lord's options are kinda limited, overwatch/hide in cover is useless against 90cm guns and that's over 1000 points wasted, double/march forward and the entire IG army can sustain it to pieces. Rocket lord can nuke an infantry company or cause some blasts on baneblades making it another well spent 925 points.

Using this AMTL list I destroyed a similar (though infantry heavy) stell legion list in 3 turns.

Turn 1 it marched stright into the enemy

Turn 2 it wasted the shadow sword company.

Turn 3 it assaulted and broke and wiped out two infantry companies that were just intetmingled.

I agree the new steel legion list has more armour, but I am not use to using armour in any great quantity, or death strikes, or SHT or guard in general. My normal lists are AMTL, marines and nidzilla (as many biotitans as you can fit in the points liit) and none of them behave like an armoued thrust.

Eat the tit activations by placing baneblades on overwatch, maybe one infantry on overwatch, move HQ, and if the tits march forward, march one infantry company in front of one of the warlords and nuke the other. Repeat on turn 2 by feeding the second infantry company to the warlord and kill the hounds (assuming one of them wasn't killed by your leftovers on turn one). Using ~1000 points unit feels so good when it can do 250/round max.

5 commissars turned up to encourage the guard. The most senior went to join the regimental commander in his nice warm chimera. Three cadets each took a Shadowsword and the fourth took the vanquisher.

Turn 1

Initiative AMTL

Storm bringer advances upon Charlie company and unleashes its missiles into their ranks. Even though they are spread out 10 stands are caught in the blasts. However the woods protect them and only three are killed, of the four hit.

Feeling a bit nervous about the nearby warlord Beta company digs in and goes on overwatch.

Scion of Ryza then marches right up to Beta company

The nervous guardsmen open fire in its general direction. Glad that there is no commissar nearby as all of their shots go wide.

Ordinati Regulus then sustain fires upon Charlie company, the woods offer little protect as the turbo lasers kill three stands breaking the formation, which pulls back deeper into the wood.

Delta company prepare to advance, but think that they should play cards instead. The commissar coughs politely and they decide to advance. They all get within battle cannon range of scion and the lead Russ also managed to bring its las cannon to bar. A full volley later and four shields were stripped from the warlord.

Remus then marches to get within range of the 3rd artillery company.

Omega company then double around the ruined building and bring their guns to bar on Scion. Knocking down its last two shields and placing a single hit on scions hull, though doing no damage

Romulus advances upon Beta company and its mega bolter shreds a stand.

Falchion advances towards Scion, its volcano cannon causing two points of damage to the warlord.

The 3rd artillery company lock in their coordinates and launch both missiles at scion of Ryza. Both hit and do a total of 8DC of damage to the warlord, causing it t crash to the ground.

Rapier advances towards Remus, but the fast moving scout titan is too quick and the volcano cannon shot goes wide.

Sabre follows suit and also targets Remus. This time the shot hits home and blasts through the voids and causes one hit on the Warhound, breaking the scout, which pulls back behind a nearby wood.

The regimental HQ, feeling somewhat excited by the felling of a warlord, double after Remus, multilasers firing, causing another point of damage to the Warhound.

End Phase.
All steel legion rally.
Remus fails to rally.

Turn 2

Initiative AMTL

The Ordinati regulus advance towards Omega company and opens fire with its dual triple barrelled turbo lasers, causing 2 DC of damage to one and 1DC to a second of the super heavy tanks.

Storm bringer then tries to sustain fire, but the lose of the legate has shocked the princeps, so instead the warlord direct fires upon Rapier, catching sabre in the blast, but doing no damage to either SHT.

Omega company then advances upon Storm bringer and knock down a void.

Beta company then sustains fire at Romulus, three hits are caused. The first two are absorbed by the voids and the third is deflected by the armour.

Romulus then advances upon Omega company unleashing both barrels of the plasma blast gun and its Vulcan mega bolter. Doing no damage.

Delta company then continues its advance around the wood, bringer their guns to bar on Storm bringer, stripping it of its remaining shields and causing a single DC of damage.

Falchion then takes aim at Romulus and misses.

Sabre then advances around the wood and causes 2 DC of damage and a critical to Storm bringer

Rapier follows its brother and causes another point of damage to Storm bringer, breaking the warlord which pulls back to where Remus is hiding.

With nothing else to do 3rd artillery marches through the wood towards obj 1 in the AMTL side.

Still feeling jollied up, alpha company advances after the still broken Remus. A massed flurry of las and auto fire later and a single hit is caused, felling the scout titan.

End phase
Everyone rallies
Storm bringer fixes its reactor

Turn 3

Initiative AMTL

Ordinati Regulus sustains fire at Delta company, destroying three of the Russes.

Romulus then sustains upon delta company, but its anti personal weapon is unable to pierce the armour of the tanks.

Falchion then advances upon Romulus, stripping it of its shields and causing 2Dc of damage to the scout, breaking it, focing it to flee back to its starting position.

Alpha company then advances towards Storm bringer, determined to have a go at one o the big fellas. Everyone piles out of their chimeras ad give the beast three rounds rapid. Somehow they remove its recently regenerated void and cause 2DC of damage to it and reopening the damage in the reactor.

Storm Bringer advances towards Alpha company, bringing its multiple apocalypse launchers to bare, killing 3 stands of infantry and a Chimera.

Sabre then, after some frantic pleas from alpha company, advances towards Storm bringer and destroys it in a single shot.

Omega Company then advances towards the ordinatii, stripping it of two voids.

Charlie company then advances back through the woods.

Beta company then advances towards the Ordinatii and trip it of its remaining voids

Delta company tries to follow suit but fails, so they just rally instead.

Rapier then revseres towards the blitz, beforetaking aim at the unshielded Ordinatii and causes a single DC of damage, breaking the holy relic.

End phase
All AMTL rally
Steel legion all but Omega company rally

Steel legion wins 3-0
Hold the line, Break their spirit, they shall not pass Vs nothing
