Dear AC!

I like gunfortresses, especially to field them in mass. They are an impressive sight on the gaming table, a really fun model to build from scratch and gives me the opportunity to roll heaps of dices (without hitting anything!). But with a 4+ save and a very harsh critical they tend do die off a little to fast.

Would it possible to consider giving them 5+ RA or changing the crit to just +1 damage?

It is a D3 war Engine so the critical should be auto-kill.

A change in armour save could be looked at, but there would be a cost implication.

The Warhound, The Revenenant titan, the DKoK Gorgon and the Necron Warbarque are all DC3 WE:s that doesn't get destroyed on a critical hit...

Would that really be needed? They would have a save against MW hits and a better chance to save normal hits (which they should have being a DC3 WE) but have a worse save against Lance hits. How much of an increase are we talking about?

The oddboy in the UK list is a sticking plaster aimed at the same issue, right?

Gunforts with oddboyz gain either a soopagun or zzap, shields are only for battlefortresses

My suggestion would be just to take more gunforts ;)

For what it's worth, in the Steel Legion list they're playtesting a change to the Baneblade's crit so it only loses one additional DC. No additional cost. It's only a slight improvement to durability, but it feels much less frustrating than losing your entire WE 1/6 of the time on the first point of damage.

Between that and the other DC3 War Engines people listed, I think it's worth considering.

Not really see the problem much. While Fortress mobs aren't the thing taken the most its not the unit taken the least by a margin, and there is even some tournament winners with lists mainly about Gunfortress, and the mobs even got an increase in points many years ago, but i have to say i don't understand it much, whih proves they aren't horrid The critical is the main concern of the Fortress when transporting, but it is one of the most common one amongst DC2-3 WEs also so it doesn't hurt it much when not transporting, as it is just a 135 points unit that its lost.

I have tested them myself and work with numbers so the adversary has too many objectives to aim too. Bad thing i don't own many and had to use proxies.

What i would iike to see as a more viable option and that are used a lot less are Speedstas, but i don't see much of a way to improve them in a good way.

And that makes each gunfortress 50 points more expensive. I think changing the crit to +1 damage would help the unit alot.

Love the idea of seeing more ork big vehicles. Have wanted to make some for years, but didnt really feel they were usefull enough. So can only support them surviving. :)

Like the idea of upgrading them.
