Post subject: | Newbie ork player questions |
Hi folks, As a returning 2nd edition 'Space Marine' epic player, very grateful if someone can answer my questions! Have been looking at the Epic Armageddon rules and using the Ghazgkhull Thraka Warhorde list (I figured something generic is a good place to start with my collection). What has happened to Mekboyz now (as well as other specialists like Painboyz, weirdboyz etc.) - have they all now been rolled up into the term Oddboyz? I got the miniatures off a 'Bay auction (love these guys and remember seeing them on the tabletop all those years ago) https://www.slickpic.com/organizer/albums/GrahamCooke/MiniaturePhotos/14664102/iphone-photo-sp-14664102/ If I wanted to use these with a Kult of Speed, I assume would it have to be as a gunwagon with Soopagun or Supa-Zap-gun? Is there anything for a dragster or mekboy vehicle equivalent with bubble-force shield? (Seem to remember these being quite effective and characterful back in the day) Very grateful if anyone can help to educate me ! |

The units that no longer have specific stats for them in E:A can be used for anything you consider per the Count as Rule on section 6.2.1 of the rulebook as long as you tell your opponent beforehand, but usually: Mekboyz: on Big Gunz, Deffguns or Oddboyz Slaverz/Runtherd: on Big Gunz, Big Gunz with Oddboyz or Grotz stands. Shokk Attack Kannon: as Big Gunz or Big Gunz with Oddboyz Deffguns: Big Gunz Warlords: Leader of Nobz or Boyz' stands Magna Kannon: Oddboyz with Supa-Zzap Pulsa Rokit: Big Gunz Dragsters: Mekboy Speedsta on Speed Freks list, or Gunwagon with Oddboy on Ghazghkull Mekboy Gargant: Supa-Stompa And if you don't plan to use the Feral Orks list: Wyrdboyz: on boyz stands for extra flavour Boars: Warbikes Squigoths: Battlewagons Orkeosaurus: Battlefortress |

Many thanks for taking the time to write that reply Abetillo - that is really useful! I have got a bunch of Pulsa Rokkits (it's a shame to find that they aren't in EA as they were such a force in old Space Marine!) I was planning on making some Ork objectives with them (have a bunch of gretchin crew and runtherds overseeing the artillery) I have got hold of some of the old Tin Boyz, so will probably put these in with a stompa mob as either killa kanz or dreadnoughts (am not too sure with the scale) Many thanks again! |

you can always use pulsa rokkits as big gunz ![]() the non-tracked ones also fit *perfectly* in the backs of the larger metal battlewagon models if you wanted to make them into soopagun-armed gunwagons, they can also be glued haphazardly onto gargants as extra shooty bitz ![]() |

Pacific, the Squat Tinboy could maybe work as Stompa, but the other two is better if you use them as Supa-Stompa, given their size. For reference, a Stompa is 2,8cm high and a Supa-Stompa around 3,6cm. If the Tinboyz are in the middle of the two, better to use them as Supa-Stompa given how they stand out. mordoten wrote: Pacific wrote: I have got hold of some of the old Tin Boyz, so will probably put these in with a stompa mob as either killa kanz or dreadnoughts (am not too sure with the scale) The Tinbots will work as killa kanz/Dreanoughts. They are small robots that parody Marines, Eldar or Squats. Would like to see a Gargant like that. A picture: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/653898.page |

Ya, I have E40k Pulsa Rokkits to convert Soopa-gun upgrades for Big Gunz, Gun Wagons and Fortresses. |

If you are looking to expand your ork collection check out Vanguard Miniatures Skinners range, Nuclear Shrimp has a very nice (quite large) Ork Gargant in Resin for 25 euros. Some of the Shapeways stores have varied quality minis suitable for 6mm epic orks as well. Vanguard is the largest source I have used for my Ork collection. |

Abetillo - Many apologies i meant Tinbotz not Tinboyz(!) - I had forgotten what Tinboyz are but now I remember the 1st edition 40k minis. The miniatures I have are Tinbotz which I'll probably use as Killa Kanz depending how they compare for scale with whatever dreadnought miniatures I get hold of. Deb - many thanks for that, I have ordered some minis from Vanguard (they are excellent!) Many thanks for the replies all is really appreciated! |
