Hey guys I have been thumbing through the compendium and looking for my next army. I like the Alpha Legion list and have a question about its initiative. Why is it that Alpha Legion units are initiative 2+? They do not subscribe to the faction rule that governs the BL, all the remaining Chaos Legions are 1+ for their Legion units, with allies according to who they are. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this? Secondly is there a file out there that goes beyond the simple list and data sheet that is in the Army Compendium. Cheers Aaron |

Best to ask Chroma. Might be a typo too. |

I see the alpha legion only has access to warhound titans is that intentional? |

Yep. They are an infiltrator and asymmetrical warfare force, not one to drop heavy assets into mainline battles. |

I'm not sure any Titans is a good idea then. It would be like SEALs bringing an Abrams to the party. |

Though maybe if it is an uprising and they turned a warhound that might work... the lack of titans does make sense though for the alpha legion. Good list, going to be my fist chaos?! epic army |

Just reading Deliverance Lost, Alpha Legion enspire Mechanicum to revolt with them against the raven guard. So some fluff to support the theory. They have an imperator, and warhounds so far. To dispell some of the masses big army and SF do do combined ops, I have lived it. Cheers Aaron |

You might want to mark that as a spoiler, I'm not that far in... |

The list, assuming I recall correctly, is an Alpha Legion led cult uprising in its early stages. A situation where there are planet-wide revolts would use different lists to represent full-on civil war. |

Something more like the Vraks army list, where the Alpha Legion appear, but only in a minor supporting role. |

Just as a side bar, I've got enough of the old metal SM1 Marines, I'm going to make a Bn of Alpha Legion before and during the (early) Heresy. And if I get some CSMs from a Blue Werewolf, I'll make a CSM unit for my Chaos SM Legions ? ![]() ![]() |

Even the Black Legion list with regulars supported by Forlorm Hopes, etc could work. Alpha Legion lists should be about "pure" Special Ops, to better define the theme. Just my opinion, though. |
