Dear all

couldn't find an existing topic, so 'ere we go! :)

Firstly: maybe it's a typo in the current list, but the Decimator has a CC of 4+. I personally think that is rediculous. Make it 6+ like all the other superheavies.

Secondly: I don't think this thing should be fearless. It's neither possessed or something, doesn't have Void Shields, etc. pp. Imperial SHT aren't fearless, so why should Chaos be (don't think the crew is that much of a factor when riding a warmachine this big).

I think it's quite cheap for 225 anyway, so correcting the aforementioned things works towards justifying the (low) cost.

btw. I am not complaining as an opponent, I am currently building a Chaos army.. :)

cheers,
Markus

Given that there's nothing to go on beyond the fluff and stats that PG/Jervis made for it why should we change it?

Sure the other SHTs are CC6+, but who's to say the Decimator doesn't have a huge roller like the CC4+ Ork WEs?

As to the fearless argument, where's the fluff say it isn't possessed? The things have been around since the Heresy. The likelihood of daemon spawn not crawling all over and inside of it seems unlikely.

They got a bump in range on their main cannon during the last round of changes, it might be that that put them over 225 but I haven't seen too many batreps with them nor heard many complaining. They're the same stats in the NetEA and EpicUK lists, if they were over-the-top I think we would have heard something be now.

They compete with both Terminators and Chosen for the 1 per retinue slot.

I checked the original BL list, and you're right. On the other hand I don't Jervis & team did too much testing work on the list, it was released near the end of SG, wasn't it.

well, anyways, I just thought it packs a lot of punch and it virtually has no drawbacks so it's kind of cheap.

cheers,
Markus

PS: the "being possessed" argument is sound - looks like I have to add tons of tentacles and stuff to mine :P

Hmm...i Didn't know they were fearless! I think I might write a list with a fair few more of these in!

They are amazing. I almost always have two in every army.

Having said that, they do seem a little too good, and if they wern't compeating for elite slots (like in the original list) I would say they needed a points increase or a stat drop. But that elite slot is very valuable and I think it justifies the strengths.

I am surprised to hear that they arn't used very often by tournement players... maybe its something to do with all the shadowswords and zzap guns hanging around.

Just compare them to any imperial superheavy; they come off as the best by far. The awesome main gun, CC4+, fearless and awesome support weaponry mean they don't have any real weakness. They really do either need a significant price bump or a stat cut.

to be fair, most imperial superheavies end up being fearless anyway, and inspiring...

CC4+ on a SHT has always struck me as the old list developer getting carried away with "Chaos are awesome!" syndrome.

To be honest - I could live without them being fearless and CC4+, I would still use them, it is just icing on the cake.

But don't under estimate the importance of losing an elite slot. I always seem to need one more when making an army list :)

Agree with all of the above. In fact when developing the Knightworld list myself and Morgan were baffled at the criticism of knights because compared to a Decimator they were RUBBISH!

I must be looking at the wrong Knights list

You must. This thing is DC3 4+RA with Fearless and 1+ initiative and MW template at 225 points.

Don't forget SR4 and the template ignores cover and the most important thing: CC4+! :-p

Build an army based around them, bring them to an event and dominate and I'll believe they are a problem.
