Why would I buy wings for my Daemon Prince?

Post subject:  Why would I buy wings for my Daemon Prince?
I am working on getting enough Black Legion models painted for a game.
I am planning on running a non-winged Prince with a unit of teleporting termies and was planning on running a flying Prince with a unit of Raptors.
But I can't, the raptors do not have the Daemon Prince upgrade available to them.
In looking through the list, only Terminators or Chaos Marines can upgrade their lord to a Daemon Prince.
Why would you give wings to a Daemon Prince accompanying either of these units?
Both units have a move of 15cm and as far as I can tell he is not prohibited from riding in a vehicle, so the extended move range is wasted.

What am I missing here?

Perhaps that is an oversight. Steve54 would be the best one to answer this.

As for the Daemon Prince with wings - well you just wouldn't. The extra +1 on armour that is reinforced and Fearless usually sees this guy running around by himself (after his formation has been killed) creating havok in the enemy's back half or on your blitz. The difference is just too good.

I agree, if the unit is in there, it should be able to go with raptors.

A winged Daemon Prince has a counter-charge range of 10cm, which can come in handy. As well, the 30cm charge, when accompanying Terminators, means he (or she) can get to the juicier targets within a formation after the Terminators have removed enemy zones of control.

Last, but not least, Daemon Princes are not transportable in Land Raiders or Rhinos.

As Chroma has said - mainly because DP cannot go in LR or rhinos

Should this really be a restriction that the list imposes however?

Would it not make sense that the player decides what units and transports they warrant depending on the choices they make?

If this is really the case, why not also restrict Dreadnoughts from the formation? They cannot ride in Rhinos either. At least Daemon Princes can keep up with Rhinos (30cm move).

It just does not make sense to me.

Furthermore, Raptors cannot be transported.

Is there any fluff reason (raptors are their own specific cult?) that precludes them having a Daemon Prince?

I thought it was because, in this list, the Raptor Cult was supposedly serving the BL Warlord and a kind of mercenary Raptor Cult shouldn't be lead by a Daemon Prince (though that may just have been how I remember it not as it was).
Plus it left it open for variant lists to use them as core with a slight twist (more upgrades) or just to be more of a focus in a different style of list (again with different upgrades allowed).
Maybe someone could do a Raptor Cult variant list.

This is the main reason I take a winged Daemon Prince, though only if using Daemon summoning. There threat range is so much more significant with wings add to that daemons, especially daemonic beasts and you still have a decent assault force that can strike over a much greater area.

Can someone point me to where it says that DP's aren't able to ride in Land Raiders or Rhinos.
I note that they are not listed under units that Rhinos or Raiders can transport, but neither are Chaos Lords and they may ride in them.

Because the DP replaces a unit (and is a unit in itself) whereas the chaos lord is a character upgrade, not a unit. The DP would therefor need to be stated as a transportable unit, while the chaos lord does not need to be – as long as the unit which it joins can be transported.

Not wanting to get too far off topic, but on the subject of Daemon princes - how do people model them? I'm new to EA and the list seems to say they are still an infantry base, which suggests several models on a rectangular base - but is it acceptable to just use a daemon prince figure alone on a round slotta base?

What figures do people use for a daemon prince?
