So in the games that I have played or had Chaos played against me, the Faction rule has never been used once. Simply put, no-one appears to buy past 1 Cult and a Undivided. LatD may be different, however surely the rule, if used across two lists, can be made a little more effective or taken out altogether? My thoughts: 1. Remove the rule or 2. Make it that Khorne/Slaanesh or Nurgle/Tzeench units cannot be in the same army as each other. Simple as that. No measurements, no deciding, just hard restrictions I believe the rule would either not be missed or have more of a relevant impact than it's current state. |

Personally I'd still cull the rule entirely and just up the initiatives to 2+ and 1+ respectively. It never comes up in game, it just effects the meta-game, so to me it's a classic example of a totally unneeded special rule. |

Red Corsairs don't has the faction rule. You can merrily throw in all the God specific toys you want. I have yet to see any complaints about this. |

The factions rule should never have been changed along the lines that Steve54 suggested in my opinion, but for the sake of simplicity, I'll just link to the original discussion, as my view hasn't changed since we last debated this point. As for the two options proposed, removing the rule completely, while not unprecedented (see various changes to Chaos down the years in 40K), rather drives a coach and horses through the background, so I'm a bit sceptical about this; while option two could cause problems for LatD lists (although not mine, as it's a Khorne/Tzzentch army). Just reverting to the original rule prior to the changes announced in the thread I linked to above would be my preference. |
