Factions At the moment the proposal is to remove the hated factions rule and change the initiative of BL to 1+ I'm against this as I see no pressing game reason for changing it. As far as I can tell the only reasons for changing it are that it isn't represented in 40k anymore and that it is rarely used in Epic. Firstly I'm not keen on making a quite large change based upon a 40k change which, as far as I can see, is to allow more daemons and daemon armies to be sold. Secondly the rule as it is forces the Chaos player to make choices between how the list is to work rather than picking the optimal faction for each formation. |

I agree too, the list doesn't need a boost in it's formation choices ![]() |

Would it not be easier to invert the way it works, so 1+ with a -1 modifier if there are any opposed fms nearby? |

Idea is that if the chaos player forgots the modifier, then he suffers instead of other way around. Which is a noble enough aim in principle, but does lead to a very strange and inelegant rule in practice. I'd be inclined to make an exception in this case. Personally, I can take or leave the factions rule. If it stays, it won't bother me. If it goes, I won't miss it. |

Leave the factions: other wise chaos armies just get to have the best of all worlds! |

Scrap it. It really doesn`t matter in the game as army selection is always so that you never suffer from it. |

Put me on the "leave factions" in. |

I think they should stay too, it might not matter too much to the Black Legion, but it certainly does to LaTD. |

I'm largely ambivilent on this issue... but I would note that the original rule in Warhammer 40,000 was seemingly put in place in order to encourage people to collect multiple largely independent armies (A Khorne army, and a Nurgle army, and a Slaanesh army, etc.). So objecting on the grounds that the latest version of the rule in Warhammer 40,000 is also designed to sell toy soldiers doesn't hold weight for me. On the one hand, I like the simplicity of removing the Factions rule (which allows you to then balance the list better, as the Factions rule may well be covering up some deeper-buried balance issues, which may then come to the foreground in variant lists like the World Eaters, etc.). On the other hand, the Factions rule is kinda fluffy, even if it does result in a lot of armies looking kinda the same. Ultimately, I think if the Factions rule was kept, I'd like it to be made more simple, in that *any* faction should hate all other factions except for Chaos Undivided, rather than just their "most hated" faction. The Chaos background has all the Gods constantly fighting each other after all, and having some of the Gods kinda chummy with each other doesn't seem very "chaotic" to me. |

I think this is an *excellent* suggestion, and would highly endorse playtesting such a proposal. It would certainly curb some of the "best of all worlds" issues with the Chaos lists and would certainly make Cultists more fractious, which, in my mind is a good thing! |
