I remember the reason was that the gmodel is not bigger than a Land Raider an the assumption that FW only made it a 2DC WE in order to fire it's many weapons on different targets (a feature of WEs in Wh40k Apocalypse).

If using the FW stats i would have made then DC2 Armour4+ or DC2 Armour5+RA.

These vehicles have roughly the same armor as a Leman Russ (1 less on the front), but two structure points each (the Minotaur may have 3, I'll have to check on that again), which would make them much hardier than the standard Leman Russ, plus more expensive.

Could you share your thoughts on why you stat'd them the way you did?

It came down to a number of reasons, really.

- Having Companies of Malcadors seems to make sense, but having to then check LoF for every single Malcador (WE's block LoF!) in a tank company would be very time consuming.

- Physically, they're smaller than Land Raiders.

- Their armour was notably poor for a WE.

- It seems pretty certain that FW gave them Structure Points in 40k just so as to allow them to fire multiple weapons at different targets, rather than because they're very large.

With all the above in mind, we had the choice between giving them 2DC and poor armour, or making them AV with good armour. We went with the KISS option.

3. Do you intend to keep the Harbinger in the list? The reason I ask is that it seems from the story that Hellblades and Helltalons were quite prevalent in the middle period of the war, but primarily as interdictors and that an organized bombing campaign did not materialize for the Traitors. I didn't see the Harbinger mentioned anywhere, though it may have been discussed in Aeronautical Imperialis.

Harbingers didn't technically turn up on Vraks, and nor did Warlord Titans for that matter.
The inclusion of each is a bit of a "What If?".

Also is there plans to have a Imperial List with these Tanks? Is that in the Fluff? I don't have the SoV IA's.

No plans at the moment but I guess it wouldn't be hard as it's mostly Imperial as it is. You'd just swap the Chaos aircraft for Imperial aircraft, and that's about it...

Good call.

I've been looking forward to seeing this list develop as well.

Fair enough and thanx for the explanation. I don't have anything to scale them (Malcadors) against. I can see where they would appear to be a bit thinner than a Landraider, but they do appear to be fairly long.

Either way, no problem.

Cheers,

I think they're fine and sensibly statted as they are, I played a bunch of games with them last year before and when I used them in MoK's Winter Warmer tournament. One key thing to note is that being move 15cm they can garrison, which makes the list different and interesting from a similar guard list with russes.

Ah, that was quite helpful BL!

So they are larger than a Leman chassis (thunderer in pic), but smaller than a Landraider. Ok, that checks out.

Many thanx...and yes, GlynG I do remember you talking about taking them to the Winter Warmer and that turn my interest in them up several notches.

E&C,

For the BWW, did you play the current version of list or a beta with the proposed changes?

Well, that sort of answers the question, now doesn't it? ;D

SO has there been any development on this army lately? Thinking of running Vraks as my next army after Knights

If it just needs a push of playtests to get it over the line I'm up for doing that - I'm interested in this list. Sounds pretty much there if GlynG's experience is anything to go by...
