I read somewhere that the Dreadclaw should not have a deathwind launcher. Is this true and will it be changed? Also does anyone know where GlynG got his Dreadlcaws? Glyn? ![]() Cheers all! |

Reaver has made some - might be him. |

Yeah it was Reaver, he also has/had two chaotic super-heavy war-machines (the ones that were created for the epic chaos list, not titans) and a few different sorts of imp mach... tanks. I got more Dreadclaws than I need by mistake too, so have spare if you want to trade for some at some point. |

Its true it doesn't have a launcher. Also in 40k they can extract troops and re-deploy them. But I doubt anything will change list wise unless someone comes up with a good idea (I think it might be quite hard to make them work as a transport formation). |

I guess what you end up with is Dreadclaws as actual units that have the Skimmer rule, and a speed of ~30cm, which can only enter play via Planetfall. They'd have no FF value at all, but would enable some elements of the Chaos Marine army list to be highly mobile. That'd be really interesting. |

Would need some testing but that sounds good to me! |

Yup it's certainly a playtesting challenge, but it's also the ideal representative solution. Dreadclaws have had rules in 40k since at least 2005 (Imperial Armour Update 2005 edition). |

Could make them an upgrade and be part of the formation. |

Based on what you can drop pod in the Black Legion list at the moment, I think that skimming Terminators, Obliterators and Chaos Dreadnoughts might be pretty powerful. I suppose if the Dreadclaws were fragile enough it wouldn't be too bad ![]() |

Indeed they'd be an upgrade that you pay for, just like Rhinos (only obviously more expensive). They'd have the Planetfall ability, and each one would have a Transport rating of 2 infantry, 1 Terminator, or 1 Dreadnought. Their ability to carry Dreadnoughts makes them (Dreadnoughts) look really appealing! Well ok, more appealing than 'no thanks!' anyway. ![]() |

You'd make 'em pay for it by charging a bunch of points, thereby balancing things. I suppose if the Dreadclaws were fragile enough it wouldn't be too bad ![]() Its armour rating in 40k is 12/12/12, which would be 5+ or 4+ in Epic. |

Quote: (Man of kent @ 16 Jul. 2009, 14:17 ) Sorry; in 40k dreadclaws are skimmers?! They are Skimmers (actually more like slow flyers like a Valkyrie or Vulture) that enter play via Deep Strike (Planetfall or Teleport rule in Epic), and have been since at least 2005. Dreadclaws are completely unarmed ; Chaos Marines don't have access to Deathwind type pods. |

It makes sense - something that's capable of flying instead back up into orbit to a waiting spacecraft should have no problem using it's thrusters to move about the battlefield a bit. Less advanced Marine Drop Pods don't have the capability to fly back up, maybe they're collected - (could a Landingcraft or Thunderhawk Transporter do so after a battle? Or would it need to be a bigger/specialist extraction craft) or possibly they're just one-use disposable. Maybe independs how safe the battlefield is for extraction. They do have guns though. |
