I have been wandering through the various legion lists and I notice that they have a very restricted list of demons. As these chaps have often limited selection of troops should the demons be expanded to all the types avalible for that power? For instance Death Guard should really have nurglings availible and so on.

The Thousand Sons has Horrors and Screamers in the appendix.

The main issue, imho, with including new daemons is getting testing on them to make sure they are balanced versus other daemons.  That's why I put those in the appendix.  I think the stats are balanced, but there's not enough evidence to confirm.

Also, 6mm nurglings? Even the warmaster 10mm ones are pretty silly.

Definitely! I haven't really had a detailed look at the legion lists, but I'm very surprised all the appropriate ones weren't included in each from the go. They should all be included in the Demon World list too.

The current situation is particularly badly representative for Tzeentch, where it's should always have been Horrors and not Flamers that are the commonly seen demon type. I appreciate it was done the way it was in the Black Legion list due to model availability with the plastic sprue, but the Warmaster Horrors do make perfect proxies (so long as you file down the metal strip the come on or gouge a hole in an epic rectangular base for it to go in then they're only actually 6-7mm high and so not towering over-large over other epic models like the other Warmaster demons).

If they're left languishing in the appendix are people ever going to play with them? Please stick them in the main Thousand Suns list Neal and if they prove unbalanced then tweak the stats! - surely that's the point of playtesting? So long as my opponents don't object I plan to standardly use Horrors more than Flamers in all Chaos lists and also take Screamers and all the other sorts of demons too, but I'd like the stats to see play and be tweaked and balanced if necessary.

The Warmaster Nurglings might be a bit out of scale for epic, but the models on there are a range of different sizes and there are some very tiny ones that are accurate for epic scale. I'm just imagining that maybe when you have such a big demon incursion you get some more of a range and some larger nurglings mixing in too. I've recently bought 36 stands worth of these to count as LaTD Plague Zombies (an obvious and very fitting proxy) and they're really nice models, with 10 different varieties of 40mm square Nurglings bases too which was nice (I was expecting like 2-3).

If you more had a problem with them having rules in epic then I don't see why not - a very big horde of little critters could be effective on the battlefield.

More powerful daemons such as Bloodcrushers, Seekers of Slaanesh and Beasts of Nurgle could cost 2 points to summon...

I don't disagree they should be represented. A large swarm of them would do something in epic scale. I was just talking about how tiny the models would have to be... I can't believe the warmaster nurglings are worth writing home about, on the pics @ GW they look like an empty base.

I wouldn't bother with nurgling models at epic scale; do what the necron list does with the scarabs and have them as an ignore cover weapon on some of the larger nurgle daemons.

I'll consider it.

The problem is the list gets so little playtesting that it's hard to diverge too far from established units.  Lack of playtesting means you need some fairly close comparisons to have good confidence on balance.  My fear is that even if I put them in the main list, they would never be tested sufficiently and then they are unbalanced in the main list rather than in the "take your chances" appendix.

They will of course never really be playtested at all if they're not included in the main list.

If the list sees so little play, why worry about a unit being possibly overpowered?

Assuming a sufficent number of powergamers in the populatioon, it'll only start to dominate if they truly are overpowered.
If so, tweak them.
If not why worry?

Has anyone got stats for Beasts of Nurgle? I have a unit of them in my Daemon World list but use the daemonic beast stats at the moment.
