Just wondering what people think of the idea of using the Black legion Chaos list for either the Word bearers or the Red Corsairs?

I found the Word Bearers Fanlist on the Taccoms, but Im not too sure if I like it as it doesnt really have the feel of the slave/cultists that Im also wanting for a Chaos army.

Perhaps maybe a CSM / LaTD mix army is the best way to explain what Im after....

Any help?

There is actually a very good Red Corsairs army list floating around somewhere.

It represents a recently-turned traitor force of Marines, who still have access to Imperial technology like Hunters and Thunderhawks.

LINK to the Red Corsairs list.

I'm definately going to use this list (already converted up one Thunderhawk, with enough parts for another).

BlackLegion's Iron Warrior list is also one I will use.

Steve.

If you would like a cultist list led by a core of marines, there are two Alpha Legion lists on the boards - Chroma's and mine.  Of course, both have restrictions on daemon summoning because Alpha Legion makes limited use of them, while Word Bearers use them extensively.  Still, it would make a good starting point.

If you want to add slave/cultist formations for a Word Bearers list, I would recommend using truly pitiful units, even weaker than the stuff in L&D - truly just chaff to be driven before the CSMs.  Although possibly they could have a fanatical morale/initiative score of 1+.

My idea for Word Bearers was basically the BL list, with an Apostle character (basically the same as the SM Chaplain character), no restriction on summoning daemons from different factions, and reduced access to daemon engines because that's a BL thing (basically, no Decimators or Death Wheels).  That of course doesn't make use of the slave/cultist side of their background.
